We liked the outside appearance of the hotel, clean & pretty. The car-park was adequate. The staff were friendly & courteous, although we did think it strange that the manager himself took our lunch order! We both enjoyed our meals, the food was tasty & plentiful. The hotel itself is in a great location, the town of "Winchelsea" is steeped in history & we spent most of the afternoon strolling around looking at the various points of interest right on the doorstep, with a break mid-afternoon in the "secret garden" of the hotel for a cream tea, which was simply lovely!! (The manager brought this.

The New Inn has a stunning loction in a ’perfect’ village. We had a spacious room with a beautiful view over Winchelsea church and church yard. The evening meal was delicious. We had rack of local salt marsh lamb and duck breast with plum sauce, both cooked to perfection with a good selection of fresh vegetables.

Your hosts Mary and Hugh provide a brand of hospitality and accommodation in Rye that will make a short stay feel like a holiday and a holiday like home from home. * Relaxed peaceful environment * Tudor House with historic features * The historic town of Winchelsea's main accommodation.
Thomas  — 15.11.2011.
The hotel was everything we hoped for, the staff 'exceeded' everything we hoped for. Every member of staff contributed towards a truely memorable stay. They were not doing dinner on the day that we wanted to dine there, as there was a function that evening, but they booked dinner for us at a restaurant in the town. Mary came to our room with a bottle of wine as an apology for not providing dinner and the restaurant welcomed us with complimentary drinks. There were a million and one little things that made the stay more memorable than when we stayed at 'The Ritz' in Mayfair London. We would definately love to visit them again soon. There is plenty to do in and around the area for most people. The Hotel would get 10/10 the staff were worthy of 15/10. Never seen better anywhere. You can feel the history and the people that have lived there before in the building. Remarkable stay.
Laurence  — 13.12.2011.
Good location for a weekend away with countryside and village walks fromthe door. We arrived seven hours later than planned due to the m25closure but despite the late hour we were welcomed and provided with atray of cold food brought to our room. The proprietors and staff werefriendly and relaxed and the chef who prepared an excellent evening mealon Saturday deserves a mention.
Mark  — 17.2.2012.

This is not the Hilton but the service was friendly, the bed was comfortable and the breakfast was fine. O. K there were a few corners a bit tatty but I’ve stayed in a lot worse and paid a great deal more. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants good clean accomodation as a reasonable price.

Janine and Tony run 17 Wilmington Square and we had a 3 night bed and breakfast stayIt is in an ideal situation on a quiet square 3 minute walk from the beach, the theatres and a selection of good restaurants. 10 minute walk to the centre of town. On arrival there was parking outside the hotel and we were met on the steps by Janine who welcomed us with the option to relax with some tea and coffee in the lounge or go straight to our room. Our choice was to book one the cheaper rooms so we were at the back of the hotel with no sea view but the room had all the standard things and was of excellen.

Comfortable, interestingly-furnished bedrooms and super-clean bathrooms with helpful knowledgeable staff and a great seafront position. Although it’s definitely a B&B and not a full-service hotel, the Royal delivered everything we needed. We loved the home-made breads, yoghurts, muffins and jams for breakfast and (almost) didn’t mind the fact they don’t serve the ’full English’.
Bernie  — 14.8.2011.
Basically, I liked (loved) everything about the Hotel. The proprietor, Eddie, was a great host and could not do enough for us in making our stay in Eastbourne a most enjoyable experience. The accommodation was spotless, comfortable and perfectly located. I was there with my Mother, sister and brother and all four of us were delighted with, and highly recommend this hotel.
