The receptionist was the key to my stay being successful. I forgot to ask for her name but she was a middle aged lady with black hair who gave me such a warm welcome and couldn’t do enough for me. She made sure I had everything I need and rang and booked a local taxi driver for me to bring me to the ferry port early the next morning and he was there on time and everything went smoothly. I hope every hotel I stay at in the future has a receptionist like her and if I am ever in the area again I would make the Royal Hotel my first preference for my accommodation.

The best part of the trip was the staff at the hotel and all the 3bars/pubs in the town we visited. The quietness of hotel and allvisiters. ?We would recommend y not as a place to drink and relaxweekday nights but weekends little louder for young local custom thehotel bar at weekends was quietest, otherwise Wick’s WeatherSpoonrestaurant and bar is mostly recommened.

This family run hotel is outstanding. After a long drive north, this hotel provided the perfect atmosphere in which to relax and recover. The hotel is situated just before Thurso bridge and has plenty of convenient parking. The location allows you to walk into Thurso in less than 10 minutes, parking within Thurso is limited. Our room was comfortable, well equiped and everything worked including the Wifi. The food is of excellent quality in both the bar and restaurant. The fish dishes are exceptionally good. The full Scottish breakfast is very satisfying and the haddock and poached egg is superb. My wife also found the continental breakfast to be very fresh and varied choice.

The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the Thurso all the staff were verynice and went out of their way to help. The room we had was large witha king size and single bed and was well equipped it even had an ironand an ironing board. Good choice for breakfast which was servedpiping hot. I read a review about the noisy nightclub - there is nonightclub attached to the hotel so no idea where that comment camefrom. Nice hotel, nice staff, good location I wouldn't hesitate tobook this hotel again.

Arrived at 9. The bar is a bit soulless but itdoes the job. The room was spacious but at ground level next to a carpark not very peaceful early the next morning when contractors who hadbeen staying spent a noisy 20 minutes hitching a trailer to a Transitpickup. The full Scottish breakfast is exactly that but like many otherhotels the ingedients are not of the best quality I do wish hotels wouldspend a bit more especially on sausages.

Third visit to the hotel - pleasant, friendly staff, very good food. Thurso is rather remote and I only go up when my rugby team is playingCaithness, so I am not the usual visitor, and find it difficult to usethe classifications above -- they cater for National Trust type touristbuses, however.
Frances  — 23.4.2011.
We chose to stay at the Station Hotel because of its location close to the railway. We had to be up to catch a train at 6. 45 and the hotel provided a packed breakfast for vegetarians which was above expectations, although the white bread used for sandwiches was disappointing.

The view from the generous windows in room 202! Also the lovely room, which was spacious and beautifully clean and very comfortable. We also loved the breakfast room, with views of Scrabster and the delightful breakfasts each morning. We stayed with you for three nights and are already looking forward to a longer stay the next time we come over from Canada. We suggested your hotel to six of our friends and the Mitchells, Cumming and Bolton joined us. Very convivial staff helped to make our stay very enjoyable, especially in the evenings.
