The staff were first class, friendly and hospitable. Even though there was a wedding reception taking place at the time we were there they made sure that we were well taken care of. The food was excellent. The hotel has a warm hospitable feel about it.

You ask at the top of this review not to mention the room rate but surely you must appreciate that the rate is the most important aspect of any hotel stay.

Thornbury Castle had an icredibly unique and intimate feel. We truely felt like royalty. I found it very interesting that every room was very different in it's character and layout. A beautiful Castle and wonderful stay.

The hotel was very easy to find. While it was listed in the hotels around or near Bath, it was essentially in Bristol. The hotel itself was dated and in need of some upgrades. In my opinion, this hotel was very basic and just "OK".
Alison  — 28.8.2010.
The way the receptionist was able to find us a room because booking. com did not put the order through to the hotel. She was brilliant, though was only able to offer us a basic twin room which we had to take as we didn’t have time to look for another hotel. com, so the hotel offered us a discounted price on the twin, plus wine, chocolates and bathrobes.
Steve  — 15.6.2011.
We had a corner ’family’ room and it was very comfortable. We also ate at the restaurant both nights that we stayed -- it was nice to have a restaurant at the hotel. Being able to order a ’hot’ breakfast was a nice bonus. We all thought that the hotel was "quaint" and was a nice change from the Holiday Inns we had been staying in.

Room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Optonal breakfast was well cooked, hot and had plenty of choice I wasquite happy with my stay and would use the hotel again.

One of the nicest and surprising things about the hotel was recieving a phone call from reception asking whether our room was okay. Having arrived early prior to the check in time we went to leave our bags at the hotel so we could explore Bristol and were pleasantly surprised to find that our room was ready so we were able to check in.

The beds were exceptionally comfortable. Much of the building has realcharacter, with the restaurant in particular either being novel with its"roundhouse" feel and either being of period (19th century?)construction, or built to emulate that effect. The breakfast was verygood, but expensive, although the total b&b package compared veryfavourably with other nearby hotels. Staff were very helpful, friendly, courteous & know their job.
Eddy  — 3.3.2010.
I Think the hotel needs updating, its a very bland hotel, the rooms are quite small, very basic furniture, i thought it was overpriced for the location it was in. I would not recommend this hotel and i would not stay there again. I would rather pay more and get better value. In my opinion this is a very tired hotel that needs a lot of money spending on it.
Daniel  — 9.11.2010.
Great location , very good value and smart hotel generally. Room wasvery nice and they accomodated our request for a quiet room by puttingus up in fifth floor. Room facilities generally good, but we didn’t usethe hotel facilities much as we were just using it as a base. Tea andmilk was replenished whilst we were out which was vert nice.

This hotel was in a great position for exploring bristol and was vey central, offering superb access to the the many bars and restaurants around the waterside. The Hotel was really lovely, and cannot find fault with anything! It was central to the Bristol Quay & eating areas etc, and we definately would return probably with our children to enjoy the planetarium & Bristol museum. Our main reason for our visit was to do a walk round and take in the grafitti, obviously Banksy! Brilliant! A really lovely weekend! Thank you!.
