Impressive reception/lounge area next to the bar which was comfortableto have a glass of your favourite. We travelled from Scotland on the Mayholiday weekend and the weather was glorious. If you are prepared to travel the thirtyminutes to the various locations in the lakes this is an ideal locationand very close to the motorway for your journey home, but there is nointrusive noise from the motorway. Enjoy!.

My husband and I like to stay at the north lakes hotel because it is awonderful halfway point when we are travelling down south and we know wewill be given first class service. We also enjoy the homely log firesetc. This Hotel gives us everything we expect from a Hotel.

We use the hotel as a stopping off point. (Inverness to Derbyshire setting off after work). I like the proximity to the motorway. As we arrive around 10pm it is difficult to judge the hotel, but fires nice!.

The George Hotel, Penrith guarding the entrance to the Northern Lakes, with spectacular Lake Ullswater only 4 miles away - the Historic town of Penrith was once the capital of the old county of Cumberland, providing a vital trading link between North and South. Situated in the attractive town centre of Penrith, amongst the mix of traditional shops and charming arcades, stands The George Hotel. Activities / Services: Restaurant, Non-Smoking Rooms, Breakfast in the Room, Free Parking, Internet Services, Heating, Luggage Storage ... Once the capital of Cumbria and the trading link between north and south, Penrith still maintains excellent transport links via the train station and nearby M6 motorway.

We chose this Hotel because it was near the venue where we had been invited to attend a large celebration party, together with several other guests who were invited to the same gathering. (Our son Mark Whitehead had also made a reservation, but owing to a house move, he had to cancel and forfeit his deposit ) Over all, we were disappointed with the George Hotel, though we were not troubled by noise as badly as other guests who had rooms at the front of the building. We realise it is in a popular Tourist area, however,it is certainly not value for money.

I enjoyed the charm and comfort of the hotel. Have been staying in Penrith for the past 30 years in a bed and breakfast and thought it about time I had a change as my husband died 7 years ago. No regrets.

The staff were very friendly, very helpfull and the general atmospherewas relaxed. The fact that the hotel is situated within the town meantit was very handy for local shops, restaurants and pubs.

The hotel is located about 4 mins drive from the m6 at Jcn40 yet in atotally peaceful location. The hotel owner was friendly and she tooktime to chat. We ate in the conservatory in the evenings but the bar andthe main dining room were also available. All the staff were friendlyand helpful.

A very pleasant place to stay at. Peopleneed to understand this is an hotel in the lake district not a Londoncity center 5 star hotel, so do not expect a lavish room or a spa,instead this is a very clean countryside hotel with clean appropriaterooms with as much facilities as you need in a relaxed holiday hiking inthe beautiful lakes.

The staff were very friendly, food was very good plenty to choose fromespecially breakfast. The evening meals were very good too, if you liketo try food that is different from the norm. The hotel is in anexcellent location for walking aroung lake ullswater, and is easytravelling to the rest of the lakes. The hotel is comfortable andwelcoming after going walking all day.

The hotel staff had made a mistake with our room booking which they readily admitted with huge apologies. They quickly found us a lovely B&B nearby and threw in a breakfast plus a meal in the hotel that evening. All sorted with speed and efficiency and we were more than recompensed for their error.

Rampsbeck is a beautiful and luxurious country house hotel and its guests are treated as house guests, rather than hotel residents. The food was very expensive, but every course wonderful. This is a set price menu, starting with canapes in the bar, a small cup of beautiful homemade soup, very imaginative starter, main course and dessert, followed by coffee and homemade petit fours, everything exquisitely prepared and presented. One of the reasons we chose the hotel was for its gourmet food and our expectations were actually.

Thiswas a 4 day family holiday with Australian relations to show them the lakes. The hotel exceeded all expectations. The location was wonderful as we close to the centre of the lake District without the crowds of other areas such asWindermere. We will most certainly return.

The hotel was very close to Centre Parcs, which was great for us as we were visiting friends there. The triple room was a good size, comfy beds and very clean. the breakfast in the morning was lovely and would recommend this hotel to friends and family. The only thing I did miss was a good shower in the morning, as the room only had a bath with a shower attachment and no shower screen.

This is a very friendly family run hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for the proprietor and her family and staff, even down to booking our taxi to the local restaurant, and the added touches such as complimentary sherry in the residents lounge. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend to our friends. An excellent hotel for a couple of days away in the Lakes.

Excellent, first class The best B&B I have stayed in this year, and I have stayed in a few all over the country. When you get your windscreen deiced for you before leaving. Now thats what you call service. I will be back.
