I booked this hotel primarily for the location. I wanted something central and close to the train station as I was only in Manchester for one night. For this purpose the hotel worked well but if I were staying longer, I would probably try to find something a little nicer for the money. It is easy walking distnce from the main train station as well as to the attractions and shopping in central Manchester. The room itself was your very basic hotel room-nothing fancy.
Tony  — 7.8.2011.
The hotel staff were all exceptionally friendly and helpful from reception to restaurant. For a good hotel in Manchester city centre the booking. If planning to eat breakfast then book the B&B rate as it is much cheaper than paying for breakfast on the day. The view from the restaurant over Picadilly Gardens is great although take a pullover or jacket if sitting beside the windows.
Anonymous  — 19.3.2011.
The Ramada is ideal if you are arriving in Manchester by train as its location is excellent for both the train station and the centre of Manchester. If I had used my car I would probably have chosed another hotel as the parking cost is quite high. The room was clean and had all the facilities you would expect from a hotel in this group however the only complaint I have is that the room was on the small side. Breakfast was very good, fresh and well cooked.

We were taken aback by the grand entrance and the bar particularly, the architecture is very detailed and even just a walk around the building is a pleasant way to pass the time. The receptionist on arrival was very welcoming, enquired about our time in Manchester and even wished me a Happy Birthday, so even though it is a large hotel there are small personal touches. I recommend this hotel to couples, young people on a night out, families and everyone really. The hotel has a fantastic location for shopping and nightlife.
Jack  — 1.4.2010.
The bedroom (superior) was extremely large... wood-panelled walls... extra kingsize canopied bed and all the facilities (including a fridge) The hotel is very well situated beside a rail station (you can’t hear the trains!) and a free bus into the shops (but they are just 5 minutes away anyway). Staff are brilliant, helpful and polite. It’s a ’Grand Dame’ of hotels with an interior to be seen and appreciated...don’t be put off by the rather shabbier exterior... it’s a four star hotel that has seen better five star days - but well worth the visit. I’ll stay again and recommend it to friends.

A very nostalgic hotel, Car parking an issue, not good at all. I now exactly what to do but sadly, the powers that be in the hotel (management) have not got a clue. It did disappoint me, maybe choose a different hotel in Manchester next time. I will never drink in this hotel again.

Every time I visited Manchester because of my sons being at University,I had stayed in places where I was not happy. I thought it didn’t matterfor the Manchester Hotelier whether their customer are happy or not. Passing Britannia Hotel once, I liked the building from the outside andwanted to experience in staying for my son’s graduation. The hall windows were always keptclose and there were no fresh air to.
Kate  — 17.2.2011.
It was a smart hotel and the room although economy and a competitiveprice, had tv, tea and coffee facilities, towels, complementarytoiletries, towels,wi-fi - everything you could need. The hotel staff treated us with courtesy and were polite andhelpful. Didn’t eat in at the hotel so I can’t comment on that. Bestthing about it was it’s central location - 5 mins from ManchesterPiccadilly train station, right in the city centre so great for goingout Or shopping and 25mins walk from City of Mancheste.

Stayed here for a birthday weekend as we were meeting friends to enjoy weekend nightlife in Manchester. Excellent hotel, close to train station and city centre for shopping and bars/clubs. Easy check in with friendly helpful staff. Our only problem was the key fir the door( electronic card) nit working on one occasion, however this was easily and quickly sorted out by reception staff. All in all, a very comfortable stay in this lovely hotel, will definately be staying again.

Recently we had to stay in Manchester quite often and we stayed in various apartments. It has spacious apartments, quiet, close to shops. Having a 24-hour reception was very convenient for us too. I would recommend these apartments.

The apartment gave me somewhere to retreat to during my stay in Manchester that was so much better than a hotel room. The location of the apartment was ideal for a get together that I was hosting around Canal Street.

The Hotel is within easy access of the city centre is bright modern and extremely well maintained, we were only there for one night and had a city room which is a little on the small side if you are staying any longer. The room however was spotless with an extremely comfortable bed and onsuite toilet & shower room again spotless with no signs of mildew and no cracked tiles which I think is quite unusual for a city centre hotel. We ate in the hotel restraunt for Dinner which had a good selection and the food when served was fabulous, we also took breakfast there and again was not dissapointed.
Carl  — 9.4.2011.
At L50 the Days hotel was good value situated in the City Centre it was still a very quiet location. The room was so cosy and comfortable that i didnt really want to go back to the Pride event i had been attending as a volunteer once i had come back to the hotel. I did go back as the gay village is very close then returned a few hours later for a very good nights sleep. The room was clean and the shower excellent on the 3rd floor where i was i could also get a wireless signal on my laptop which the hotel staff informed me wasnt usual mostly internet access was restricted to the lobby area.
John  — 16.6.2011.
The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the room was cleaned each day and we were left fresh towels each time. The hotel was extremely quiet and restful even though the hotel is close to the gay village and Pride was happening not much noise was heard. The buffet breakfast was also good value for money.

A great hotel for a city trip. While we were in Manchester the weather was terrible (as it is a lot of the year) so we got a dvd from the HMV that is 2 mins from the hotel and had a movie afternoon. The kitchen is well appointed. Most importantly for the first time I have stayed in Manchester my sleep was uninterupted with the bedroom being away from outdoor windows it was perfect for a lie in.

Probably the best Hilton I’ve stayed apart from Puerto Madero, Buenos Aires and I’ve stayed in more than I care to remember. Manchester has everything and this hotel compliments it in the way hotels should. A must have is a cocktail or two in the Cloud Bar. What a view of Manchester and the Pennines! Whether you’re on a family visit, wedding, seeing a show, watching the football, business or a rom.

The location is great - close to all the shops and nightlife. However, our apartment on the 13th floor was great! It was clean and everything was in working order! It was quite spacious in comparison to the other apartments I have used in Manchester. The young lady on reception when we checked in was very pleasant and the ladies delivering the breakfast packs were lovely. I would definitely return to The Light next time I am in Manchester.

We visited Manchester to attend an event at Manchester Arena. The Light was clean and perfectly situated. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the view from our apartment was fantastic. Everything was as described, except for the towelled robes, but not a problem as I asked at reception and they provided them. Would definately stay there again.

Great to be able to have the use of a kitchenette on the 3rd floor for free tea/coffee/toast/cereal etc. The hostel is very secure and the staff seemed to be very helpful and friendly.
