The hotel is situated right in the middle of Malton, a lovely town with a good market, a nice mix of shops, cafes and interesting buildings, there’s two lovely churches, and a tourist information stop right in the market place. The room at the hotel was very spacious with an adjoining room which would have been ideal for a family, the decor was modern and bright. Although the hotel is central the room was located in the patio area and was very quiet. The breakfast was served in a small atrium in the centre of the small hotel and was very good.

I am familar with the Hotel and the area and it’s location is great for all local attractions in and around York.

Burythorpe is an exquisite place to stay. The setting is idyllic -remote yet accessible to York and the moors. We used it as a stoppingbreak between Castle Howard and Whitby but would have loved to staythere longer. We stayed in a twin room, beautifully decorated in shadesof white and cream - lovely fabrics and a huge bathroom with fabulousshower. The large lounge is comfortable and chic. It was great to be ableto read the papers there and have an excellent coffee. We ate in therestaurant. Food was delicious and service terrific. There is a lady whoworks her socks off and remains charming and effective.Gorgeous swimmingpool which we had to ourselves. There is also a well equipped gym.Pub wasfully booked by 18.00 but menu looked good and was slightly cheaper thanhotel restaurant.

the rooms were beautifully decorated and the decor had a homely feel. I liked the fact it was in a country location yet convenient for the places we wanted to go. I may not have found it without my sat nav though!! Great food at the pub up the road which is a sister business to Burythorpe House. The food at the hotel was also very good. Monika is a great asset to Burythorpe House . she was very friendly and warm . It was nice to chat with her.

We stayed in a superior double room and it was beautifully appointed. 10 minutes from Norton/Malton. The hotel has a combination of modern accommodation and country house style lounge areas.

It was very basic. We were out of the hhotelfor very much of our time in Malton. I do not think I would have likedto stay here for a holiday. Not keenon pool tables/one arm bandits in hotels.

6 night stay here had to be shortened because of the facilities. Spoke to threee other couples said they were disappointedwith the hotel and who wished they hadn’t booked. I Wouldn’t tellanyone about this hotel.
Raymond  — 26.10.2010.
The hotel was in excellent condition. The breakfast was good value for money and my granddaughter who was with me was glad to see a vegetarian option on the menu. All the facilities in the rooms worked well - which has not always been the case in English Rose hotels. I’m thinking in particular of the nearby Talbot hotel last year which was little short of a disgrace.

We chose The Cresswell Arms because of the excellent reviews we read and we were not disappointed. The hotel was excellent and I have to say spotlessly clean, the rooms were a nice size and really comfy. The bathroom was compact but the power shower and double size shower cubicle made up for the size. Breakfast was of excellent quality and nothing was too much bother if you wanted something different cooking. We stayed for an evening meal which we both enjoyed. We will return again as it was one of the best hotels we have stayed at.
Robert  — 16.12.2011.
We used the Cresswell Arms as a 1 night stop over hotel on our way to the east coast. Plenty of car parking space. The hotel room no 2 was excellent (quite large with en-suite) and was situated in a quiet location. The english breakfast was excellent, and I would definitely recommend this Inn to others and should we be in the area again, would not hesitate to stay here.
Peter  — 18.11.2011.
The hotel was different from the myriad chains where one knows exactly what will be in the room and indeed where it will be. The room we had (room 2) was very spacious, well laid out and lacked for nothing. It was nice to have a full size kettle, good china and a very good assortment of teas. The only down side was the noise.
