The staff at reception were exceptionally welcoming and clear both onchecking in and out. The hotel has a pleasantambience and attention to detail in the room was appreciated. I wouldhave extended my stay however a conference meant the hotel was fullybooked. Breakfast was worth eating with an unusually good choice, unlikemany other hotels that offer greasy, tasteless fare.

None of the above really fit the hotel. We thought it a very stylish hotel in an attractive town with the facilities we seek, viz. good location, comfortable accomodation, very good breakfasts ( we did not dine there and it was idially situated for Glyndebourne, which is the reason why we had travelled to Sussex. We will definitely stay there again.

The high quality of the hotel restaurant was a pleasant surprise. The breakfasts were sumptuous. We ate dinner in the hotel both evenings that we stayed at the hotel - imaginative and skilled cooking at moderate prices. I don’t think the hotel knows how good their chef is! Also the front of house staff were charming and helpful.

Not a bad place, but more like a motel than a hotel. Friendly staff, lack of major hotel group branding.

The indifference of the staff really affected me. i tried to get moved to a different room but was met with terrific indifference by the reception staff. the staff need training and the whole hotel needs a complete maskeover immediatly. At £80 it was terrible value. now happily installed in royal Hotel cardiff truly a wonderful experience at £55 a night. And the staff are professional and attentive.
Duncan  — 19.1.2012.
The entrance to the hotel is extremely inviting - the dark wood, fire place and period features. Its a pity it isn't exploited more. It would have been nice to have a drink in front of a real fire after we had arrived. The pool was nice and the chap on the spa desk was helpful. Unfortunately if you looked closely you can see that the spa area (and the rest of the hotel) needs alot of TLC

Comfortable hotel with friendly staff and good restaurant. The hotel's history means it has bags of character with beautiful wooden doors and beams and lovely uneven floors. Lovely view from restaurant and terrace. I only stayed overnight so didn't have the opportunity to test all its services. Swimming pool, sauna and steam room were good.

Crown Inn Lewes (England): Great location, Tasty breakfast, Excellent service.
Howard  — 5.1.2011.
Very friendly staff. Room was spacious, clean not always the case these days. As well as providing a range of meals at lunchtime, they also provided a meal in the evening on request. Cleanliness is of a high standard, particularly the Kitchen The hotel is a historic building and its location, only minutes away from the railway station, with links to both the sea port of Newhaven, and a short distance away from city life in Brighton, where there is a fast service to the Eurostar (One hour).
John  — 10.3.2010.
I think the Crown Inn is one of the friendliest hotels I have everstayed in. They were happy andexceptionally helpful and nothing seemed too much trouble. Even thecustomers in the bar helped with directions and were kind enough to askif I’d had a good day when I got back in the evening! I wasn’t lookingfor a 5 star hotel and hence this was very good value for money. Nexttime I return to Lewes I will book into The Crown.
John  — 27.2.2010.
The friendliness of the hotel staff. The breakfasts. Its central location. One reason for choosing this hotel was the ability to book in from 1200, which allowed me to arrive at lunchtime, drop off my stuff and have the whole afternoon free to go for a walk in the countryside.

Thomas  — 17.11.2011.
We were visiting our daughter and her husband, who have recently purchased an apartment in Brighton, so we only slept and breakfasted - very well, too, at Premier Inn Newhaven, which, for us was reasonably close to Brighton, at an acceptable price for the clean and comfortable accommodation on offer. Being in our 70's we liked best the convenience of being able to find, and drive to, the hotel without having to contend with heavy traffic in an unfamiliar town, and inadequate, expensive, parking at our destination. We noted, and liked particularly, the pleasant reception, and very helpful manner of all your staff at Newhaven, without exception; so I guess we have to complement Whitbread on their training programme, which appears to be very effective. It costs absolutely nothing to be polite and friendly, but I am certain that clients who feel welcome are more likely to want to repeat the experience by returning in the future. Congratulations. Nothing like good will !

Just off fderry from Dieppe in the evenning it was an ideal location tostay prior to driving to Hasting to re-MOT my vehicle. The attachedrestuarant was very good with excellent friendly staff and excellentvalue Fish for 2 to share meal, that and 2 and a half pints of ciderwere less than £20.00, great value Will stay again at Xmas to visitfamily in nearby Peacehaven
Andrea  — 29.2.2012.
The staff were very friendly and the room clean and well-designed. We had breakfast twice at the Brewers Fayre next door. There was a very good choice of food including veggie sausages and it was freshly cooked. The hotel is located on a business park so its not in a pictureseque location, but it is near the port and the railway station which is what we wanted.
