After reading some of the previous reviews we were a bit dubious about booking this hotel and we're so glad that we went ahead and booked anyway! The room was spacious and spotless, staff were courteous and efficient and breakfast was excellent - served by a very pleasant waiter. One of the best hotel gyms I have seen and spa facilites looked excellent. Unfortunately we didn't have time to sample the wet side, but we will be back and we will certainly make full use of the spa next time. The hotel is very close to all the attractions in Knaresborough and also just a short drive from Harrogate and the Dales. Fantastic value for money - would recommend without question.

The main areas downstairs were large, clean and comfortable. Location is fantastic in this lovely town. The building itself is attractive and seems a lot more 'genuine' than other chain hotels

Only stayed one night and was out for most of it, the look of thegeneral hotel was nice and comfortable the bar was cosy and welcomelooking (but I didn't get a chance to visit it).

We liked the location of our hotel as it was close to the shops and a short walk to the river bars. Our room was very clean and refreshed daily by a lovely housemaid called Tar. We also enjoyed sitting in the bar in the evening where the mood was set beautifully with lovely piano music. We will definitely book the Hilton York Hotel in the future as we know we will be well looked after.
Lauren  — 30.5.2011.
Victor - the assistant manager was very capable and handled my situationvery well. There was a mix up with the room when I got to the hotel, despite having called when I booked to make sure the hotel was clear onmy requirements. Victor put me in another hotel for the first night andthen I stayed at the Hilton for the second night. The hotel restaurantand bar are also nice.
Anthony  — 12.12.2010.
No gripes with this hotel. The staff were among the best we have encountered on our many hotel stays. We would certainly go back to this hotel again, wish we had stayed longer. York is fascinating, there is so much to see, couldn’t do it all in 3 days so another visit is on the cards.

In my e-mails to friends I have told them that York was the highlight of my three week vacation and have recommended a visit to your city and hotel. Your restaurant staff were very accommodating and the dinners we ate there delicious. My compliments to your chef!!Margaret.

More of an large house than hotel staff were very freindly and helpfull offering larger family room without request. If you can specify a room within hotel, family room huge with massive bathroom. WIfi didn’t work on laptop but on ipod in some locations in hotel. Freah towels provided daily ,whole hotel very clean staff visable cleaning every morning.
Stuart  — 19.5.2011.
York is a very expensive city in which to stay and whilst we thought that the hotel was relatively expensive it does represent good value for money when compared to other hotels in York. The breakfast was good. Our room was small but was clean and comfortable. There is a bus stop nearby with a very frequent service into the city so expensive car parking can be avoided.

We booked on line. I had to call the bookong agent for confirmation of alift, or first floor room at our selected hotel. As there was neither, they looked for a hotel with our preference, and came up with theChurchill - thankfully. My husband and I were struck with food poisonongon our second day- not from anything at the hotel - and the staff wereso considerate and helpful.
Claire  — 14.2.2010.
We booked a 4 poster deluxe room in the original part of the hotel which was lovely and spacious which seems to be an issue with the standard rooms. We have stayed in a number of hotels in York and this was probably one of the best for the price. The staff were very helpful and polite, the location- although not as central as some others- was good, parking was easy and free- this can be an issue in York, breakfast was very nice and cooked to order. Overall our stay was great and we will definitely st.

Hilary  — 18.4.2010.
We liked the ambience of the hotel, - it is an old building with steep stairs and creaky floors! It has been given a ’black and white’ 50’s american film theme. We didn’t have breakfast, so we cannot comment about that. Parking was available, and we took advantage of this and travelled into York on the Park and Ride bus service. York centre is about 10 minutes walk away, so is manageable if y.
John  — 27.12.2010.
From the moment we arrived at the hotel we knew we had found a greatplace to stay. And if you don’t fancy that you canalways just chill at the hotel Noir and enjoy the relaxing atmosphereand surroundings.
Sally  — 4.5.2010.
I thought the staff were very friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is very well situated and within walking distance of all the sights. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel if walking is not an option. The free mini bar is a bonus, that doesnt normally happen in hotels.
