Had a wonderful couple of nights at the Kirkmichael hotel with my husband and 2 children. Stayed in a lovely family room and were made to feel very welcome. Other children popped in and out too and so were company for my children--even better! I was undecided whether to opt for one of the big chain hotels in aviemore for our skiing trip but definitely made the right choice.

Situated in a quiet location away from the tourism of Pitlochry andBraemar, the hotel has new owners from April 2011 who are settling inand making some changes. This is an old hotel with some modern touchesto the decor. The bar is now used by locals, which is a good sign.Simple and comfortable.

Friendly owners, comfortable and well-appointed accommodation, good food. We were made to feel very welcome despite being the only family in the hotel at the time. None of the other guests appeared to have children.

Transportation The village of Kirkmichael is on the main A924 equal distance (about 14 miles)between both Pitlochry and Blairgowrie. Once you arrive in Kirkmichael you turn over the bridge (right if coming from Pitlochry and left if coming from Blairgowrie)and drive up the tarmac road past the school turning quite a sharp left between 2 houses and then follow that road until you come to a large house called 'Curran House' (which is painted a burn't orangeyellow colour) where you turn right and head up the hill and you will find the hotel at the top.

I usually book the chain hotels and go where the wife can get some retail therapy. I decided on a wee change as i thought my seven year old twins would love the countryside. We all loved the Hotel and will definetly being going back in the near future. We only stayed for the two days but wish i had booked more. The staff were realy friendly and very welcoming. The food was realy good aswell. We enjoyed our food so much the first night that we decided to eat again at the hotel on the second night. My kids want to go back this weekend. 10 /10

The Log Cabin Hotel was a welcome sight after the twisty mountain roadin the dark. It felt like being in the Great Northern Hotel from TwinPeaks without the weirdness. The staff were friendly and attentive, thefood was amazing and home cooked. Our room was huge with a lovely bigbed, a sofa and television which was a benefit as it rained the wholeweekend. Very clean everywhere, well stocked bar and a seperate placefor children with lots of games etc to keep them amused.
Andrew  — 22.11.2011.
This is just the best hotel for families wanting something different, loads of character, sociable atmosphere, great food, superb childrensgames area and breathtaking views. We loved every minute of our stay andwas a refreshing change to the dull budget accomodation we had theprevious few nights. Expect different and enjoy!!

The staff helped out as much as possible with our complaints. breakfast was extrememly well organised so despite the hotel being full we did not have to wait to be served which is important to us as we needed to leave early and promptly. when checking out the manager agreed to a discount off the price we had booked at through booking. com because of our issues so i suppose the price we ended up paying was reasonable bearing in mind how busy Pitlochry was because of the Blair Athol Horse trialsi am saying i would not recomend this hotel because of our issues however if you get a renovated room.

I have now stayed at Fisher’s Hotel a number of times to attend thePitlochry Festival Theatre. The best thing about the hotel is that thebus stops at the front door and it is in the middle of the town! Thehotel is under new management and changes are being made. I am reallylooking forward to going back again next year to see the transformation. It is in one of the best situations in Scotland.
