Lets do the Time Warp again! Well, the Rowers needs updating to say the least! However, we were looking for a hotel for the night as our son was doing the Great North Run. Nearly every hotel had more than doubled their prices and the Rowers was the only one I could find that had kept their normal rates - so, for that reason alone it gets my vote. We had a warm welcome, the room (and the hotel itself) is in real need of decorating and updating, but it was adequate and we had a decent hot cooked breakfast the next morning. Ideal for the Metro Centre and Costco - both only a 10 minute walk away.

My wife booked a twin room at rowers hotel for my son and myself. parking space for the car which is not always the case in city centre hotels so, to us this was a bonus.

I had a nine consecutive night stay at this hotel while working in thearea and the staff were extremely helpful and went out of their way tomake me feel at home. I needed an early breakfast and this was noproblem - even filling my flask for work! This is a budget hotel, an oldbuilding, but improvements are being made. I will definitely stay hereagain when in the area.

The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Although when i mentioned my carpet had not been hoovered and my shower was not working it went down hill on customer service. I was offered another room to shower but i needsed to leave so did not have time. Cleanliness is a basic right for a paying customer and most notable hotels would have compensated in some way.

The hotel staff, they were great. The bar was constantly open and the staff always smiling, even in the middle of the night. The staff really did make this stay welcoming and enjoyable. Also, the breakfast was good to wake up to after a night out in the town, full breakfast with a jug of fresh juice.

We always enjoy staying at the Marriot because the staff and hotel is super. If we have a little complaint on this occasion it is that the Arabian theme room we were up-graded to was in serious need of upgrading. The staff did say that the room is to be upgraded soon! We also couldn’t understand why Booking. com wouldn’t allow us to extend our two nights to three in their system and we had to book a seperate night as an add on- luckily this was no problem for the hotel staff.
James  — 6.3.2010.
The best thing abuot the hotel was the location, being just a two minute walk to the gateshead metro centre. However the hotel was also very clean, rooms were spacious and well appointed. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would definetly go again.

Our reason for going to Gateshead was to see Leon McCawley play the Rachmaninov Concerto no. 2 with Conductor John Wilson and the Northern Symphonia at the Sage Concert Hall, which was superb! The Hilton was the perfect location for this, everyone was friendly and we had a lovely view from our bedroom window. Having enjoyed our one night stay we look forward to returning for a longer visit of relaxation to explore further the surrounding area of Gateshead and Newcastle. Will be looking out for special offers!.
Paula  — 28.6.2011.
The hotel was amazing from the second we arrived. Staff were extremely pleasant and helpful and the hotel itself is beautiful. Staff were great with directions, recommending places to eat and go out. I would not hesitate in recommending Hilton Newcastle Gateshead to anyone, and we will certainly be going back!.
Anonymous  — 31.12.2010.
This was our first stay at a ’Hilton’ hotel and we were not disappointed. The hotel and leisure facilities are all modern and very clean. The car park is below the hotel and we had no problem finding a space. Breakfast was probably the best we’ve had in any hotel.

We found the cleanliness of the hotel excellent, given the basic andtired decor, but we were not expecting The Hilton! For value, youcould not surpass it and a great welcome also, considering we bookedin so late. The breakfast was served efficiently, hot, good and plentyof it and again so friendly! The bed was really comfortable. I hadbooked on behalf of my sister and brother, so felt a resposibility tothem, they were as impressed as I was, so I hope you will pass thisreview on to the Hotel staff whom, we feel, are doing a really goodjob. I would book on this web site again as the description.
