We stayed at the gypsy hotel to start our weekend away ,we found that when we arrived the room was cold thinking it would warm up later that did not happen we did not have any hot water either. we found out after breakfast that whoever was responsible to put the heater on did not do this ,this was the only hotel we have ever stayed at that has had no radiators on or any hot water it was not a good start to our break away. we would not stay at this hotel again. the room was very small and the fittings and deco was t.

Very convenient for Exeter Airport. Offer ofextra early breakfast to accommodate our 0500 check in at the airport -we did not take this up but were very impressed that the hotel waswilling to do it. The gardens of the hotel provided a lovely place tocool off with a beer after a long hot journey. We would certainly stayhere again.

This hotel is perfectly located in Exeter cathedral square, close to the main shopping area yet in a quiet position. We had a superior room which had an enormous bed and a view looking straight out onto the cathedral, quite magnificent. We ate in the Michael Caines restaurant in the evening which was a very special experience, the food was outstanding.

We have stayed at The Devon Hotel before and find that it is very well positioned for both Exeter and the surrounding countryside and also costal resorts. Breakfast is buffet style with a wide range to choose from. If you require an evening meal there is both a restaurant or bar area available with a varied and well priced menu. W.

We had a very enjoyable stay at the Devon Hotel, the Staff were verywelcoming, the Room we stayed in had a very comfortable bed, thebathroom was not a great size but was fine for the week, only concernwith the Room was that it was very warm at night even with windows openbut the Hotel did provide a fan which was a great help. Food was servedand presented well and the Dining Staff could not do enough for us,nothing was too much trouble, we will most cerntainly return to thisfirst class Hotel, well done.
Giorgia  — 16.3.2011.
It was a nice Hotel, the double was quite big and the bathroom was well furnisced. The only thing good to now is that it is 5 miles away from the city centre, so if you have planned to visit Exeter you need a car (there’s a huge free parking in the hotel).

Melbury Guest House Exeter: Tasty breakfast, Relaxing bath, Excellent service.
Anonymous  — 9.4.2011.
I booked this at the last minute (the day before) rather than paying L100+ for a large city centre hotel. Just five minutes’ walk to the shops and then when I got back to the hotel, I snuggled up in the four poster bed to watch a dvd and had a great night’s sleep. I didn’t have breakfast as I was off to a meeting. Would definitely stay again.
Peter  — 3.4.2010.
From the moment we opened the front door we were made welcome by the owner, the house has been extensively upgraded to its original Victorian splendour with a fourposter bed included. the breakfast in the hotel was well cooked and served with a smile. Car parking near the hotel was pretty good.
Anthony  — 27.5.2011.
We got a special offer price for the best room in the hotel with ensuite and a (very comfortable) four poster, which made our visit to Exeter for a meeting close to the hotel quite special.

Warm welcome, lovely well appointed room (I booked 4 poster) -extremely clean and tidy - very comfortable, with quality bath andshower products provided which is a nice touch. I liked the farmsetting - enjoyed seeing the cows wandering along at miliing times -ideal for an overnight businessman - quiet and peaceful, not far fromExmouth / Exeter / Budleigh Salterton. Nice breakfast - very helpfulwith time of serving as I had an early start - good selection / freshtasty ingredients. Will definately return if I am in the area onbusiness or holiday.
Christine  — 23.1.2012.
Rydon Farm is a working farm in a beautiful rural setting. The Farm issituated just a few minutes by car from the centre of the village ofWoodbury. We were greeted warmly upon arrival despite arriving around 2hours later then expected at 10 pm. Our room on the ground floor hadbeen recently furnished and decorated to a very high standard. The roomis luxurious, cosy and extremely comfortable. Full Engligh breakfast iscooked to order and there was home grown fresh fruit available also.
Ken  — 30.1.2012.
Up-market b&b and working dairy farm. Quiet and off the beaten track. Our room was quite spacious, well equipped and comfortable with agenerous 4-poster bed. The en-suite was good size and again wellequipped, but unfortunately lacked a shower. Breakfast in the diningroom was superb - better than most hotels. An enjoyable experience.

The basic rooms are basic with just beds and linen. Take care, drive slow. Lots of fascinating history in this village pub which is a quaint thatched low old building. Very good reception and helpful staff.
Heather  — 27.2.2011.
It was an unexpected pleasure to stay here, I was on a walking holiday with friends and thought it would be a bit of a dump(because of the price) but I couldn’t have been more wrong. The stable accommodation whilst basic was quirky and amazingly clean,as were the showers/loos. The staff couldn’t have done more for us, my only regret is not spending longer there, plenty of walks in the area and good pub grub.

Staff were very helpfull and the food was excellent. Nice people running the hotel and good accommodation.

We looked at previous reviews of this hotel and chose it because of themarkings given. For those Strictly Come Dancing fans even Craig wouldgive it 10 out of 10. Couldnt really find anything wrong with it, littlebit like a show house. Our twin room was spotless, beds comfy and lovelydecor, bathroom was very modern with all extra toiletries (shower onlyin our room). Didnt need to take a hairdryer and even supplied atoothbrush just in case you forgot your own. The breakfast was superb -lots of choice - cereals, fresh fruit salad, yoghurt, cakes, fullenglish. It is well located if you wish to travel to places such as LymeRegis as it is just a case of left out of the hotel and carry straighton. We arrived about 6pm and they suggested we try the Half Moon Villagepub - that was very nice too large portions and reasonably priced- about10 minutes walk so you could have a drink or two. Would highly recommendit. We hope to go back sometime - you would enjoy it.

This was the most enjoyable stay of our visit to the UK from Australia. Our room was very well furnished with free WiFi access (unlike the Southampton Hilton which wanted GBP15 per day for Internet access) Eastcote has a delightful garden, which is home to hordes of birds - blue tits, coal tits and so on. Tina was most hospitable, and provided an enormous breakfast with masses of fresh fruit as well as the full English breakfast. Exeter is nearby but we avoided the problems of parking in the city by taking the public bus which stops just opposite the entrance to Eastcote. We took advantage of the free RedCoat tours in Exeter to see the key sights (magnificent Cathedral, City Wall (formerly the Roman Wall), Clipper Wharf and so on).
Paul  — 18.12.2011.
I normally stay at Holiday Inn Express or Premier Inn, never GuestHouses. For the price and location I decided to stay at this GuestHouse, mainly on the description of facilities listed on Itexceeded all of the descriptions, with a beautiful en-suite room, withfull range of toiletries. Tea, coffee, water, juice, bathrobe, flatscreen T.V. and a very comfortable large double bed. Fabulous freshlycooked breakfast with cereals, juices, pastries and fresh fruit tostart, served in a lovely conservatory overlooking the landscapedgardens. I would strongly recommend this property to anyone, at half theprice of a basic 'chain' hotel.
