The food was well above the standard expected for price and hotel type:the chef was successful in his style and tastes. I was particularlyimpressed that my medical dietary needs were met, the options remainedunusually wide for me, and any adjustments were effectively andunfussily made, including my needs as described before my arrival. Staffwise, quite superb - and this despite a clear staff shortage on atleast one of the 3 days I was there. Although the decoration was dated, the accomodation and social areas were very clean and adequate -resulting in a first for me in a hotel stay: I did not h.

We went to the hotel in mid-September, so it was not too busy. It was clean and well cared for. The car park was at the back of the hotel and small, but we still managed to park in it. The staff kindly let us leave our car there after we had checked out, while we went to the market in Dorchester.

Friendly and welcoming staff. This is a wonderful small hotel and an ideal location. This was my 3rd visit and much of the hotel has been refurbished. Free wi-fi for hotel guests is a nice touch as is the bottled water in the room.

The people that run the place are fantastic, they are friendly andaccommodating. The Hotel was beautiful and very well presented. The fact that theHotel was just outside Dorchester ’proper’ was also rather nice fromour point of view. We would also hope to stay at the hotel again in thenear future.

The hotel is ideally located in the centre of Dorchester, which is anunspoilt town well worth visiting for its Thomas hardy connections,Roman remains and excellent small museum, as well as being an idealtouring base. Our room was well-appointed with a good-sized bathroom andwas spotlessly clean; there is also a comfortable lounge overlooking themain street for guests’ use.

I was absolutely astounded at the quality of the Casterbridge. I wasupgraded to a double room which had everything a 4/5 star hotel wouldhave had. When I arrived the reception was excellent, very friendly andhelpful. The breakfast the following morning was one of the best I haveever experienced. All the produce was obviously local and was cookedexcellently. Again the service was exceptional and veru friendly.
Chris  — 24.1.2012.
I liked the friendly atmosphere, the comfort of the rooms, the breakfastand the service of the staff. All excellent, reasonably priced and closeto where I was going in the morning. I would definitley use theCasterbridge again if I stay in Dorchester.

Single rooms are often a disappointment but not here. Mine was spotless, quiet and beautifully furnished. A period building, yet the reception rooms are tasteful, cosy and homely and the conservatory an excllent option for breakfast.

It was just 132 paces from where we wanted to be! Even though it was apub, we were not troubled by noise from downstairs. The bathroom was small, butfunctional, and had one of the best showers I’ve ever used in a b&b -hot, powerful, and easy to control both aspects. A very good value-for-money county-town venue. We will stay there again if overnight in Dorchester, andreccommend it to the Dorchester Records Office for vis.

The staff were very pleasant & helpful. The food which I had at the hotel was great value for money. All the staff work hard for a relaxing environment which was business-like yet friendly. I asked for more pillows which I was readily given.

The helpfulness of the staff and the standard of the room considering the cost. Hotel very central to Dorchester - where there were lots of places to eat.
