The hotel was basic but clean and comfortable, but was what we wanted aswe were attending a wedding in a nearby hotel. We were also given accessto our rooms at 12:30pm to allow us to change for the wedding. Thesingle person was not charged at the ’twin’ rate, which was a decidedbonus. The breakfast was good.

The hotel was very easy to find. We were only there for 12 hours, the room was clean and comfortable andthe breakfast was very tasty. The service was very good. For the firsttime ever for us in a small hotel, our luggage was carried up to theroom on the second floor.

The location of the hotel is fantastic, right on the Main Street ofCallander, and looks like a castle. It may appear a bit run down, but myroom was clean and comfortable, and an absolute bargain. The breakfastwas fabulous, served in a beautiful ballroom with chandeliers and whitelinen tablecloths. The best thing for me was that, for a single room, Ipaid exactly half the cost of a twin or double. Very few hotels caterfor single travellers that way. The staff were all lovely, friendly andcheery. Highly recommended. Large gardens. If you want a luxuryexperience, it's maybe not for you, but for the amount I paid, it wasextremely good value.

The hotel is well placed and acts as a centre point to work from. The staff are friendly and very willing to help when ever they can. The night life in and around the hotel is very good and we enjoyed our stay.

We were very impressed by the welcome that we received. The owners were very hospitable. We had the Garden room which was large, well fitted, and with a big window view over Callandar. The bed was new, and the most comfortable we have ever slept in.The bathroom was great with a good powerful shower. There was plenty of heating. The breakfast was excellent with more choice than we have seen in large hotels and we particularly appreciated the fresh fruit and Greek yoghurt and the good quality marmalade and jam. This was an outstanding hotel experience and we would be happy to stay at Knowe Guest House again.

This old hotel was beatifully clean and comfortable with crisp white linen on the beds - and on the dining tables! The meal at the function (70 people) was beautifully cooked and very tasty, and served efficiently, as was the breakfast. The staff were very helpful and cheerful and the atmosphere was good. Very good value for money - who cares if the carpets are bit worn? - I certainly didn’t! I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel for a budget break.
Kemal  — 10.10.2010.
Centrally located in Callander. Wonderful old building with plenty of space which meant that each of my party could have a single room. Despit the drawbacks listed below, the hotel represents good value for money and I will definately consider visiting its faded glory again next year.

The owner Mo was so friendly. He made me feel as though anything would not be too much bother. The room was spotless, spacious and the beds were the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. Lots of little extras in the bathroom and also cosy bathrobes for all our party. The food was excellent, great choice and plenty of it! Would highly recommend this guest house.

It was modern, comfortable and friendly, Breakfast was lovely. Family run, very helpful and sociable people wanting to please.Lots of special touches eg forgot my face cream and there was a sample bottle in the bathroom, plus make up remover, so helpful. You do get these thigs in hotels, but have not come across it at a B&B before. A life saver.
