We have stayed at other hotels in Buxton and have been verydisappointed, so the Lee Wood was a very pleasant surprise. The hotelis in a lovely position, overlooking the town and countryside andwithin walking distance of the heart of Buxton. The lounges, bar etcare well furnished and very comfortable, and give the feeling ofstaying somewhere special. Our room was a good size, very clean andcomfortable, with a pleasant, spotlessly clean bathroom. We didn'thave dinner at the hotel although the menu looked good, if a littlepricey, but breakfast was super, with a great choice and generousportions. Staff were friendly and helpful. We would certainly stayhere again.

We were attending a family wedding in Hargate Hall (Wormhill) but wanted "hotel facilities" instead of staying in one of the suites. We selected Best Western Lee Wood Hotel over the other hotels in Buxton because Best Western has a good reputation for 3 and 4 star accommodation at reasonable prices. Unfortunately, we did not see any of Buxton because we spent most of our time at Hargate Hall.

During our 3 night stay at Lee Wood Hotel the staff were helpful andfriendly. Our room was a good size, well decorated and equipped. We wereable to leave our car safely at the hotel while we explored Buxton onfoot. We had a relaxing time. The breakfasts were a very good standardwith a wide variety of choices and we were well served by the staff. Wewould recomend the hotel to our friends.

The fact that it is the oldest hotel in England, built by the Earl ofShrewsbury for Mary Queen of Scots when she came to Buxton to relieveher rheumatism. This historical association and the comfortable roomsand facilities, plus excellent food. It is also opposite the PavilionGardens and in the centre of the beautiful buildings created forBuxton’s spa visitors.

This is a wonderful hotel with huge character and more history than you can cope with. Buxton is a lovely place, even if it is anot always sunny as it was on my stay there. I was upgraded to a superior room for the same money and it was very luxurious and comfortable. Id recommend it to anyone and at L79 B&B, ffabulous value for money.

The Hotel was central and well positioned for the attractions of Buxton. Staff were very accomodating in finding analternative room at the same price when we were unhappty with that originally allocated. The replacement room was a very nice and comfortable room albeit it would still benefit from a redecorate completed by professionals. At the offer price for a double, this (presumably family) room represented quite good value. The Dining Room was the best feature, a very pleasant setting and both the food and service were good. The Dining Room staff were very pleasant

very friendly hotel. parts of hotel a little 'tired' but bedrooms good and very clean and tidy, we had never seen such a shiny, clean bath in a hotel!! Breakfast good and homecooked. Excellent location for Buxton centre and Opera House, with a nice walk through Pavillion gardens into centre. We would definately stay here again if in Buxton and would recommend as a good hotel with central location.
Lesley  — 25.1.2012.
The hotel and staff were excellent it is a family run hotel the room wehad was although not the height of luxury was certainly of a goodstandard and was very clean we would certainly recommend it as one ofthe nicer buxton hotels. The food we had was very good and the waitresswe had was really lovely and helpful. Nothing seemed to be too muchtrouble for any of the staff we encountered

We stayed here for one night 4th June. The location of this hotel is great for visiting Buxton. The hotel is as faded and quirky as described by other reviewers. having stayed in a lot of hotels, this was without doubt the best breakfast we ha.
Ian  — 2.3.2010.
This was my second visit to the Buckingham hotel and it was as beforeexcellent in every way, the breakfast is second to none the staff arevery friendly and helpful, the restaurant serves top quality food andthe chef is rightly very proud of his menu, the rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious enough, the movie/sport theme adds to thequirkiness of the hotel and separates it from bland chain hotels. It isalso only 100 metres from the victorian pavillion gardens and 200 metresfrom the opera house I would not stay anywhere else if in Buxton.
John  — 12.1.2011.
The Buckingham Hotel and Buxton, probably one of the Best Hotels we havestayed in, Dog Frriendly- as well. The level of Service in ths Hotel wasas Good if not better than a 5 Star Hotel. The surroundings made one feel more at Home- Thanat-Home ! The Bedroom and Bathroom Spotless. There were Several Mentions of Fawlty Towers in Reception, The Hotel Inspector would not Find anything in here- even if he stayed for a week !.

The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed yet attentive and polite. Thefood was really good and the breakfast could possibly be one of thenicest we have had. This is definately a place for people who enjoy goodfood and simply want a base for walking and sight seeing rather than ahotel type experience. It was lovely to be able to have a drink in the''arty'' bar before wobbling off to bed.
Kathrine  — 10.2.2012.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room excellent. We had breakfast and dinner in the restaurant and the quality was very good and the prices quite reasonable. The ale available at the bar was the best we came across in Buxton. The chef Todd Carroll was friendly, laid back and with an obvious passion for his work.
Geof  — 15.12.2011.
Great staff and a fantastic breakfast, nothing was too much trouble. Highly recomended for a day or 2 in Buxton. .

Attractions within a mile of the hotel include: Pooles Cavern - Found in the beautiful 100 acre woodland of Buxton Country Park, these natural limestone canes were the shelters of Neolithic tribes 1,000 years ago.
Natalie  — 25.11.2010.
The apartments were lovely, warm & modern. They were a fantastic size for our group - we were a group of 8 friends and had booked 2 x 2 bedroom apartments. The living areas were a great size (we fit all 8 of us comfortably into one living room for breakfasts), and the hotel staff managed to put us in two apartments side-by-side. The hotel was in a great location for the sights of Buxton and the surrounding Peak District, not too far from the train station and in a gorgeous chateau building.
Anonymous  — 16.4.2010.
I would definitly recommend this hotel to anyone who’s looking for luxury and calm combined with a place where you feel like at home. Next to the chateau, you can see the most beautiful landscapes. The manager of the hotel is a very nice man. Everything here is made to please you.

The apartment was warm and comfortable with a well equipped kitchen. There was good wifi access. I liked the independence of staying in an apartment/aparthotel, also liked the quiet location.

This former farm is situated in Buxton's outermost suburbs and veryclose to the true countryside. It retains a delightful farm atmosphere. The bedroom was in a converted barn, and the cosy breakfast room was wasclearly once a genuine farm kitchen type room.. Parking was easy andsafe, and the centre of Buxton only a 20-minute walk away. Very pleasantowners and excellent breakfast. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Anonymous  — 29.1.2012.
Hawthorn farm was a B&B not a hotel and is definately not a Farm, on the outskirts of town and an ex-farm maybe. Room could hav ebeen better aired but otherwise all was Ok for the price. Excellent Breakfast and friendly people.
