This is the second time I stayed in the Parador in Zafra. I returned with my wife after visiting earlier this year with a colleague. However this Parador, while beautiful, confines it's romantic side to the building itself and the courtyard.. My room this time was disappointing and after requesting a double or king bed we got an internal room with two single beds.. (which may be the norm here) Additionally the over 55 rate is more expensive that the 30+ rate which seem weird. The surrounding town is very nice and historic and well worth an overnight visit and as I travel through this area twice a year I will stay again to enjoy many of the culinary delights. Next time though I will try one of the other luxury hotels in the town.

Beautiful parador, lovely patio. Room was astonishingly large with luxury bathroom. Little daylight in room due to small window (no surprise, this is an old castle!) but enough lighting to compensate. Attractive pool, ideal for two or three hours of doing nothing. Three minutes walking distance to nice village plaza in Zafra if you want to go out for a tapa or two.

The location is brilliant and staying in an old castle is a wonderful experience - a beautifully maintained building. The courtyard area is very elegant. The room and bathroom was spacious and every need was attended to. The buffet breakfast had something for all tastes and plenty of it although it was a bit expensive compared with other hotels.
