We chose Hostal Zamora for its price and fairly central location andwere not disappointed. It is definitely a modest place in a modest-looking area, but it was clean and the staff were very helpful (well, there was one who spoke English who was very helpful- the others werejust very nice since we don't speak much Spanish). It is easilyaccesible to everywhere by the Metro and almost right in the Chuecaarea. It's also near a tapas place- El Tigre- which was highly reviewedby our daughter who's living in Madrid, although we didn't get a chanceto try it. The place is a little hard to find. We took the Metro fromthe airport, which was easy until we tried to find the right street togo down. Get off at the Gran Via stop and turn left off of Gran Via anddown Calle del Clavel. You will see a big red metal ribbon-thing overan underground parking garage ahead of you. Walk toward it and intoPlaza Vazquez de la Mella- a tiny plaza with a staue of Sr. De la Mellaand a small fountain and also a coupl

The staff was very accommodating and tended to all of my needs. Theywere very polite, helpful, and kind. They allowed me to keep my luggagein a secure room before I checked in (I arrived early) while I got toexplore Madrid! I definitely suggest this hostel.
