Everything is excellent about this hotel but it is advertised as having air conditioning but it does not. The staff are really friendly and the hotel itself is beautiful. Reception is on the second floor and the rooms are on this floor and I think above as well. Many of the rooms have Juliet balconies overlooking a busy junction, great for people watching. Although the booking was room only, the owners put out muffins and biscuits for breakfast. We found the Wifi intermittent on both iphone and laptop. Beds and linen very comfortable. Soap, shampoo, handwash provided. We were unable to work the television. Fantastic shower. It is possible to book 'excursions' from the hotel. We booked the Flamenco at a cost of 28 Euro per ticket. We were collected from the hotel by the host and were taken with others to 3 popular bars for a drink which was included in the ticket price. The first bar was on the rooftop terrace of a 5 star hotel. Great views. Unfortunately, one person within our group

I've stayed at a variety of places in Madrid, usually mid-range. This isthe first hostal I've stayed at in the city (last-minute trip, soeverywhere else I would have considered were booked out) & I have tosay, it is excellent & value-for-money! The room & bathroom werespotless, the bed comfortable, & the staff very nice. My room wasn'thuge, but got lots of natural light, which I was very happy about. Greatlocation too: I like being downtown, but hate staying around the Solarea as it gets too noisy, especially after dark. This is tucked awayinto a little street near the Opera, but a short walk from everywhereyou'd want to go: museums, shopping, Chueca... In short, a great budget place in one of my favourite cities in the world.
