The hotel is run by an English couple. After 3 minutes talk I felt like visiting friends and not staying in a hotel. The local Spanish food cooked by them was delicious, but we were lucky to be there for proper English sunday lunch with rostbeef, yorkshire pudding and gravy - it was an English miracle in Spanish environment. The rooms are nice, fresh and clean. Kids were enjoing small swiming pool while us nice terrace over a silent small river in a shadow of trees and no bugs! It was wonderful time.

El Gecko rules. This spring we were in need and want of a relaxing vacation, preferably filled with Andalucian wonders. We are 5 friends in our best ages. What a luck for us that we decided to stay at El Gecko, a hotel that is relaxing, comfy and quite a beauty. The garden is a treat, situated by the river, where we relaxed while William and Maxine made sure we had everything we wanted, sometimes before we realised that we wanted it. William and Maxine, the welcoming and charming hosts, spiced up our stay with their lovely British humour. They have a great knowledge of Andalucia, and helped us finding Andalucian wonders. Then its the food! We ate at El Gecko every night. We did miss a bit more substantial breakfast, but the very rich and tasty coffee, in abundance, made up for the few and grainy choices. That leaves only one drawback for our stay, we had to leave this wonderful fiction of paradise to go back to everyday life. Thank you Maxine and thank you William for your ho

My husband and daughter (11) stayed here for 4 nights. The owners Max & Will were amazing. They arranged 2 horse treks for us at very short notice and their waitress Carmen even provided us with some riding hats (Spanish riding places don't gave them). Even the cleaner was great and made some phone calls for us in Spanish! The hotel itself is fab - the front is deceptive - it looks like a typical White village house but once inside it is a real tardis. It is a really cool boutique hotel. The pool was big enough to entertain dad and kid for a few afternoons whilst I sat on one of the many patios appreciating the breathtaking views of the mountains and river. We had great food on the two evenings we ate dinner. The special request of Thai curry was a total hit. There are also some REAL Spanish tapas bars very near. We also took the train to the next village and had a great lunch at Quercus restaurant. The area is so amazing and the locals are a mix of friendly Spanish & integrated
