The hotel is astounding! The old building is architecturally intriguing and filled with comfortable nooks. Breakfast upstairs in the elaborate dining room was quite good. The hotel even offers a billiard room! One afternoon we sat out by the pool and drank wine in this stunning valley. Our room was a cozy two room suite with views of the mountains over the tiled roof tops. We hiked up in the glacial valley all day. I'd highly recommend this hotel to anyone who might enjoy sleeping in an old stone mansion! There were also families with children. Economically priced. Cash only! No credit cards. Good value and a wonderful experience.

Our hostess was absolutely lovely and very helpful and sweet. She rang and organised accommodation for us in another town the next night as we do not speak any Portugese. There was a range of brochures available for us to use and WIFI. The whole atmosphere of the building was lovely, it was very old and historic and beautifully furnished with many rooms available for our use such as a billiard room, a bar room like a cave,a relaxing lounge room with tea and coffee facilities for our use and a swimming pool and garden. Our room was delightful with a pretty sitting room and beautiful furniture. We were able to park our car right outside the accommodation and there were signposts along the way so we could drive through the maze of streets to find it. It was an easy walk into the main part of town. The breakfast was also lovely at a shared table in a beautiful dining room.

It was a good base from which to explore Manteigas and the Serra de Estrela. Very nice staff , good service , nice restaurant on site.
