This hotel is really quite extraordinary. It's beautifully restored with expense apparently no consideration - how do they make a return on investment? There is space galore, history everywhere, lovely rooms, huge public areas and dining room and no doubt it's even better when the pool is in use in the summer. It also has a "fumadromo" - surely a first and a great comfort for smokers!

We loved everything about our stay at this hotel, the location is as stunning as it is unexpected! It was an oasis of peace in a busy travel schedule and we only wish we had been able to stay longer. The staff went beyond the call of duty, the manager even printing off a map to show us a better route for our planned journey to Porto as we left, and a young member of staff insisting on carrying our cases to the car, refusing a tip, unlike the staff at previous hotels. We had a superb meal in the hotel's restaurant, excellent food and service at a realistic price. There is also a lovely little bar with very friendly staff - and excellent brandy! The hotel even allowed us to leave our car in the car park for a couple of hours on the day we left, while we explored Chaves itself. Would love to return at a future date.

Hotel’ luxury look was a few levels higher than the pricesuggested. Parking is right at the front door and free of charge. Reception works 24h.

Such a nice Hotel! Rooms are great. Staff are well trained, therestaurant is good and, for the "players", there is a wonderfull casino. recomended !!!.

The Hotel Casino de Chaves is one of the best hotels me and my husband know. It’s not the first time we went there to stay a weekend and it definitly won’t be the last. The hotel staf is very professional and wonderful.

My family and I arrived at the hotel and were very impressed by themodern, luxurious decor of the lobby. I must stress the crib was wooden and not a typical foldout crib you’d find at most other hotels. The decor was very modern and bathroom was quite spacious with anice soaking tub. There was a balcon.

Chaves is a great little town, with the tourist focus on its medieval heart (surprisingly good). Hotel is located right near the heart of town. Many cafes and small bars. River walk is very nice.

Beautiful romantic old manor. Wonderful grounds - the staff told us wecould wander around and pick / eat any fruit we find on the grounds.Didn't get a chance to use the pool but it looked lovely. Breakfast wasfantastic and served until anytime you wish before checkout, which is at1pm not midday like most other places in Portugal / Spain.

Received a very friendly welcome and glass of Port as a welcome to the"Country farm" style guesthouse. As dusk was almost falling, we werelucky to get a chance to meet the Lusitano (in foal) mares and thedonkey, collect some eggs and say goodnight to the flock of sheep beforedinner. Had a delicious and inexpensive meal at the Miradouro restaurant2 miles to the east, and ended up buying some local wine from them. Amore-than-adequate Breakfast was served in another rather formal andchilly rock-walled room - we had almost finished, when bacon andscrambled eggs arrived! I am sure that a longer stay than our one-nightwould have been most rewarding.
