Very friendly greeting, nice bar with great resolution big screen TV projector showing the Dutch football program that evening. Well presented room, furnished well with writing desk and chairs. Big double room, good heating in bedroom and bathroom, clean comfortable bed. Super breakfast in the morning with views overlooking the (snow and ice covered) harbour. I did receive complimentary Internet access that worked in the bar, bedroom and breakfast/restaurant. I will stay again at this place. Worth point out that the cost of my one person stay in a double room with balcony was only 45 Euro + 7.50 Euro for breakfast, this is great value.

We had great experience at Motel Cafe Restaurant De Plashoeve - the staff were friendly and very helpful, the location was beautiful (on the lakes edge surrounded by boats), the room was basic but very clean, the breakfast buffet was very varied and enjoyable, great atmosphere in the bar and entertainment (the salsa trio) was really good fun. Would definately stay there again!

The accommodation is basic it was comfortable and the staff were politeand friendly. The breakfast (buffet style) was included in our price andthere was a wide variety to choose from and was of good quality. In allit was well worth the money we paid for it, we would stay again and willrecommend to others. The only negative (only slightly) is that it issome distance from the City, which means at night time there is not muchto do around that area. However, there are regular trams (Number 5) thatyou can catch from Paulus Potterstraat (Van Baerlestraat stop) which isonly minutes form the hotel and takes to Central Station and variousstops on the way into and out of the city. From the airport you caneither get a train to Central Station and then the tram (No 5) or betterstill a train to Zuid and then a short tram (No 5) to vb.
Brian  — 2.2.2012.
The female receptionist was wonderful. There was no problem about us leaving luggage there so we could explore the museums until check in time, nor leaving them in a locked room until we were ready to leave in the evening. Our room was cleaned every day and had good views of Vondelpark. The superior room was a good size with a double bed in it. (Some hotels we saw on another site had budget rooms that were in the basement and close to tram lines so would be noisy early in the morning. They were not described as such on this site- should be.) In this hotel there were no basement rooms and no tram going past. We woke up to birdsong and tranquility. It was wonderful. I recommend it if you like the Leidesplein and Museumplain areas of Amsterdam.

This was my first trip to Europe and I knew that hotel rooms were small here, but the size of the single room (#172) actually exceeded my expectations. I had plenty to store my belongings and move around freely. The breakfast buffet was also very good. Also, when I couldn't make the first of two nights for which I originally booked a room due to weather travel delays in the United States, I emailed the hotel and, without asking, the hotel rebooked me for an additional night without charging me for the night that I missed. In this way, I didn't suffer financially for my flight delay. This is great customer service and the type of gesture that will have my return to your hotel on my next visit to Amsterdam. Well done!!

I liked the fact that the hotel rates were very reasonable and that breakfast was included. Another great thing is that you can rent a decently-equipped bicycle (though it's only single-speed) straight from the Bicycle Hotel and if you bring your own bike, you can park it in their secure garage. The staff are generally friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, and I found that you can buy certain things like transit cards from the hotel. Finally, the hotel definitely has an eco-centric view and uses energy efficient bulbs, promotes saving water and electricity, and by default does not change your bedding/sheets every day.The location is relatively convenient and is easily within walking distance of a couple tram lines, so getting around is no problem. The neighborhood was quiet and felt safe.

Exactly what we needed. We had a room with our own shower and toilets(quite clean btw). We were quite lucky because the rooms with sharedfacilities are smaller. The decoration was nice considering we choosethis Hotel for budget reasons. The Hotel crew was polite and friendly. If you don't have too big expectations, I would recommend you thisHotel. We went with our Bikes and we could park it in the garage forfree, Amsterdam is really cool to visit that way, like a local !

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. In general, the hotel is not bad, good balance of price and quality. Pretty nice breakfast, hearty. Very clean, cleaned every day. The room has a kettle, tea and coffee. At the reception a lot of discounts in completely different places. Helped in the museum of Madame Tussaud, I advise you to take.
Anonymous  — 8.1.2012.
The location was good. Otherwise the room was a laugh, I wouldn't havetaken it if I knew how crammed it was; there was no place around the bedat all, no (room for) chair. For the same price I hired decent hotelrooms in (quite central) London.

The hotel is located in a great area, about 5 min walk to van Gogh and Rijksmuseum and about 15min to the city centre. The area is safe so it's fine to walk late at night without getting hassled by drunk people who are in abundance in the city centre. The hotel comes up as a 3-star hotel, very basic but nice and clean. Ideal for 2-night trip.
Nina  — 9.12.2011.

We were traveling with our child, so we really loved the location of this hotel. It was on a quiet attractive street near Vondelpark. We were lucky enough to get street parking in front of the hotel which is free on weekends/holidays. The hotel has nice modern decorations and our room was a reasonable size. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel air conditioning was broken during our 2 night stay (and it was hot outside), but we were given free breakfast for our family -- and the breakfast was very good. The rear courtyard/garden was very nice and had a tiny canal and a family of ducks.
John  — 8.11.2011.
I've stayed at the Roemer three times, it's a small, quiet, funky hotelin a good location. The (executive) rooms are fairly reasonable in sizewith nice but occasionally small bathrooms. In a city that has sometruly appalling hotels and service it is a tranquil haven. At the right price (see below) I can really recommend the Roemer.
Raphael  — 30.11.2011.
We were upgraded to suite which was very luxurious, spacious and well outfitted. Location is great for access to Vondel park, museum area, shopping and Pijp district but for access to central Amsterdam prepare to walk or better still rent bikes at Mac's which is close by (we did).

Location, location, location.; the ease of walking to all major locations of interest. Concierge was very knowledgeable about recommendations for restuarants, side trips and transportation. Our request for a room facing the Amstel River was honored and because we were staying for 6 nights, we were upgraded to a bigger room. However, this hotel is not very fancy but more like a formula hotel. We were pleasantly surprised at the restaurant located in the hotel "Flo". We did not eat breakfast in the cafeteria since 17.50 E was too much if all you want is a continental one and not a buffet. But just outside the rear entrance you are on Rembrandtplein where there are many sidewalk cafes and even a Coffee Company shop for a quick cappucino. All desk staff speaks perfect English as well as most do in Amsterdam
Osamah  — 28.10.2011.
The hotel's location is great. Some shortcomings such as the slow lift that goes up to the fifth floor, where my room was, but for some reason you can't call it from there and you have to go one floor down. I stayed for 6 nights and I enjoyed the hotel for its modern yet simple design. It's always full of people checking in and checking out so the hotel's popularity is undoubted. Clean, refurbished rooms & tidy toilets but book in advance for a great deal. Don't bother watching TV though, unless if you like watching news reruns every 5 minutes, or can understand Deutch.
Anne  — 14.11.2011.
From the minute we arrived and checked in the staff were very helpful and very friendly - we couldn't fault the staff throughout our stay, the room was cleaned every day (we stayed for 4 days/3 nights). Also as I had told the hotel (by email through booking.com) that it was my boyfriend's birthday whilst we were there and could we have a double bed - they upgraded us to an executive room overlooking the canal which was wonderful and made it very special to both of us. We would definitely stay at this hotel again.
