Conveniently located close to the 'Waterloo Plein' and the Old Side of Amsterdam City Centre... close to Botanic Gardens and the Zoo. The staff was friendly on arrival. The rooms are small, but adequate, modern and clean. Public transport connections (Metro, Tram and Bus) are all located a short walk away and from there it is very easy to reach everything that is not in walking distance. There is a pizza/pasta restaurant in the hotel, which serves hot food until 22.30 and after that serves drinks, but we did not stay in the hotel for food and drinks as there are plenty of restaurants and cafe's close by for breakfast, lunch and dinner at better value :c)
Catinca  — 12.1.2012
Very nice hotel, in Amsterdam city center, walking distance of RedDistrict, bars and Central Station (we actually walked to and from thetrain station by foot, 25 min maximum); Ok room, clean, comfortable bed, nice view of Amsterdam residential neighborhood and canal. Overall agood experience in Ibis Stopera, would recommend it to friends visitingAmsterdam. Didn't try the breakfast, so no comments about it.

Can you imagine a hotel not being able to provide a very basic necessity as a toothbrush to their guests? A hostel maybe. But not a hotel which ibis amsterdam stopera pretends to be. Can you imagine going to sleep without brushing your teeth? Well that's what they did to me.

I stayed there for one night and was quite pleased. Comfortable bed in a small, but clean room. Located in a nice area of Amsterdam. Just a few days previously I stayed at another hotel in the same price-range (The Hermitage Amsterdam hotel), but this one was much nicer and I would recommend this one over the Hermitage without doubt.

The staff of the hotel are cooperative and accomodating. i actually enjoyed the breakfast which is standard. i liked my room as it was very clean and had a sizable bed. The atmosphere of the hotel is also comfortable. i would stay at hotel vijaya the next time i visit amsterdam

The Hotel Location is perfect and the price was excellent. I wouldrecommend this hotel to any group travellers (I stayed in a 4 man room). This is my 5th time to Amsterdam and this hotel was the best so far.Really the location is superb. The Bathrooms have recently beenrefurbished to a high standard, altogether we had 2 x 4 man rooms as wehad 4 ladies and 4 men , both bathrooms were the same. We are allyoungish (22-33) and every one of us liked the hotel. Most nights we allcame back at different times and there was always someone on the desk. One night 2 off us came in later than the rest of the group and we wentto walk in straight to the room (as the others had collected the roomkeys) and they asked us to confirm our room number and booking namewhich I thought was very good as last thing you want is strangerswalking around the hotel. This would be the first hotel I check forrooms the next time I go!!!!

Central hotel, next to Rijksmuseum and 5 minutes' walk from Leidesplein. The 197 bus, direct from the airport, stops just around the corner - itcosts 4€ and takes 30 minutes. Clean and comfortable, the hotel is in a quiet area but within a short walk of central bars, restaurants, etc. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Laura on reception was especially nice and gave us a free upgrade to a superior room with a canal view, even though the hotel was full, because it was my sister's first time in Amsterdam. There was a little traffic noise but not too bad. All hotels are expensive in Amsterdam, so for what we paid (just over 100€ a night) this is definately good value to stay in a quiet, clean, comfortable hotel within 5 minutes' walk of the centre. I highly recommend it.

Our stay at the hotel was a nightmare, I have put a complaint into the hotel. The room was dirty, bins were not emptied, balcony full of fag ends. expected to drink wine/champagne out of palstic cups! NO tea coffee in rooms Staff unhelpful staff rude/argued with us Access to hotel very very poor (VERY steep stairs No reduction in price offered room not cleaned after we had to ask DO NOT suggest this hotel for any one!! We payed over £350 for 2 nights there is no chance this hotel can live up to this kind of price!!!
Richard  — 2.2.2012
Without a doubt, the best feature of the Apollo Museum Hotel is itslocation. If it is very high end shopping you want, it is only at theend of the street. Good restruants are within a 10 minute walk and thebest Museums of Amsterdam are even closer. Cross the street and you canhop on a canal boat. 2 blocks West you have the streetcar stop for citytravel. The hotel has been been re-fitted with new rooms. It attempts tobe very modern and succeeds but it at the expense of its visitors. Bringlots of suction cup hooks to stick on mirrors as there are no hooks tohang things. Also bring a face cloth as many European hotels do notprovide them. Most Amsterdam hotels have small rooms. We were lucky andhad one of the bigger ones in the Apollo. Even so, it was very small. Tobad it didn't have a comfortable lounge area. They have devoted to muchspace for restaurant seating.

The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful! We had an early flightand they prepared us breakfast the night before since we were going tomiss the buffett. Also, we thought it was very smart to have guests toplace the food in their room a plastic tupper box, which helps thehotel prevent mice and bug problems that many Amsterdam hotels seem tohave. The room was clean, simple, and small, which is exactly what weexpected for such a central location. We noticed that they offer ababysitting service for a fee for parents that want a night outtogether without the kids!

Excellent location, 15 minutes walk from Centraal and on the beautiful Brouwersgracht, near Jordaan and Westerkerk. Great value for your money. Price was much cheaper than a hotel room with more than double the space. I initially booked with a hotel but later canceled it in favor of this place. Apartment was large enough for a family of four, had a great kitchen and sala and very comfortable beds in two separate bedrooms. Staff was very helpful. An employee met us at the door even if we checked in after office hours. Showed us the apartments and how to use all the appliances. Manager even arranged for taxi service whenever we needed it. Very near a grocery store where we bought stuff to cook in the apartment including cooking rice and frying steaks. There are also restaurants within walking distance. Couldn't have gotten a better deal.

Staff were friendly courteous and extremely helpful from the minute wearrived at the hotel. Nothing seemed like too much trouble - taxis, dinner bookings, excursions or just good advice. The 'living area' worksvery well and was a place where you could feel really relaxed with acomplimentary tipple or two! - here we met several couples fromdifferent parts of the world and struck up interesting conversationswith them. The hotel is also in an extremely good position, which meantwe could drop in and out if we wanted during the day. Highly recommendedby all 4 of us that went.

Great place for exploring Amsterdam. All old town attractions are within walking distance. Great local eating and drinking places nearby. The hotel gives you complimentary beers, whisky, gin, vodka (and juices and sodas of course) but with so much to eat and drink nearby we never did help ourselves to the free drinks at the hotel! Breakfast is good and hearty. If you have a car then tough because there is nowhere to park conveniently. Even wi-fi is free. Overall a great place in Amsterdam to stay.

What a fabulous hotel. It was unbelievable! The location was superb, the front desk staff went out of their way to insure we had anything we wanted, and amenities were beyond belief! The breakfast chef, Sam, made the best omelet I have ever tasted, introduced us to delicious wafer thin dutch pancakes, and was quite charming even though he was very busy! I can not say enough about this wonderful hotel. This would be the only place we would ever want to stay in Amsterdam!

The hotel was excellent-Paula and Jan could not have been morehospitable. The breakfasts are fantastic; we were there a week, and theywere varied each day, and beautiful food. We had a 6 year old daughterand they were very accomodating with breakfasts, lending us DVD's foruse and just generally being extremely good hosts. The room wasbrilliant; very clean, well set out, great bathroom and a nice balconyfor 2 to sit above canal and have a drink. Dvd player in room great forour 6 year old. Great place to stay - if in Amsterdam, would definitelygo again to Hotel Tulipa

Hospitality, interest and warm welcome from the owners... Very nice breakfast... Excellent location, excellent atmosphere in the room (design & furniture selection was cousy, stylish, warm). Heating was very good, which is really a big deal in freezing Amsterdam winters. Owner's know the city well& share the inside info, they also know what's going on in the city at that moment and they would recommend nice activities according to your interests. They even helped us by keeping our luggage at the hotel after we checked-out -until our train's departure time in the evening-, that way we could tour the city whole day without worrying about our luggage. Tulipa is a perfect boutique hotel. I strongly recommend it, make sure to book in advance:))

The owners, Paula and Jan, are wonderful people!! Upon our arrival lateat night to Tulipa, Jan took the time to explain to us the attractionsin Amsterdam and even recommended good restaurants for us to visit. Iwas also traveling with morning sickness and Paula was kind enough toprepare breakfast that would suit my appetite each morning. I also likethe fact that they are very considerate and will offer families withyoung children to stay together in the same room, instead of traditionalhotels which would put 4 people into 2 rooms in most cases. The locationwas perfect, the bus from the airport will take you there in half anhour. Nearby were plenty of restaurants and trams no. 1, 2 and 5 wouldtake you to the Central Station. We would definitely choose to stay withTulipa again in the fuure, hopefully with our children too!

Clean, comfortable and quiet hotel. Beautifully situated on thePrinsengracht within easy walking distance of restaurants, bars andshopping areas. Hotel has bikes for hire - very useful. Stunningcanal views from our accommodation at front of hotel - rooms at theback overlook a charming garden. Twin room was actually two singleswith interconnecting door and a shared bathroom - a perfectarrangement for mother & daughter! Would definitely recommend as abase for a city break.

Lovely hotel - we were upgraded to a superior room which was spaciousand comfortable. Staff were all friendly and efficient. The canal sidehotel was within walking distance of most city attractions and wellserved by public transport. Drawbacks were that interior bathroom had noworking extractor fan. Complimentary toiletries were not replenished sothat after first day we had no shower gel. By contrast we were givenfresh towels each day. We would definitely stay there again.

It's an excellent price/performance choice. Location is 1015Prinsengracht which is like 10 minutes walk from Flower market and about20 minutes walk from Dam square. It's also 7-10 minutes away from theCentraal Station if you use trams 16, 24 or 4. Hotel personnel isamazing. Good breakfast (omelet, eggs, ham, cheese, cereals,bread/butter, juices, tea etc.). Clean room, free Internet. This is alsothe first hotel ever in my life that provided me with my room before 1pm(I arrived early in the morning on a transatlantic flight) for which Iwas extremely grateful. Dank u wel!

Sara  — 23.10.2011
It was central to everything, not 5 mins from leidersplein main square, the main museums (van gogh, bols etc) and canal boat pick ups. Rightnext to vondelspark so the area was actually quiet even though it wasbang in the centre of town. While rooms were slightly dearer then I amused to for a hostel they do provide buffet breakfast to set you up forthe day, staff are very helpful and it's near to all the sights so ifyour budgetting you will save your pennies on travel. They also have ameeting point for the free walking tour of amsterdam which is a greatway to start your trip and help you find your way around if your feelinga bit out of your element.

Vondelpark-Stayokay- the location is excellent. Just a walk through themain and biggest city park, central to everything of major interest inthe city. 3/5 Mins walk and your at the main road.Breakfast was morethan I could have hoped for. Plenty of choice as well as fresh juice, fresh fruits and as many cups of coffee as one wanted. Staff even at thebreakfast service were consistently helpful, friendly and with thenecessary information to answer the many times I was seeking informationfrom them.I Just loved it and have already decided That if I get thechance to return to Amsterdam, I would be glad to stay at Stayokayagain. Thank You for making my short stay in Amsterdam the wonderfuladventure that it was.I Felt very safe here and can highly recommend itfor anyone, but especially for young people or women or men who may betravelling as a single. I would also like to Commend how speedily andeffectively the hostle staff dealth with an occasion when the lift had afault. Thank You for making

The facilities were very clean and modern. The breakfast was plentiful; it was bufflet style and included in the price of the room and offered a variety of food choices. I stayed in a 6-bed dorm on the fourth floor, which was bit tiresome at times (93 steps, I counted) but nothing to complain about if you're in shape. The beds were pretty comfortable, I really liked the pillows, they were quite fluffy. I was a little nervous about staying in a hostel since i was running the Amsterdam 1/2 marathon and needed to get some rest the night before, but it wasn't a problem. Luckily, none of my roommates snored and there was little to no noise at night so I had no trouble sleeping. I had my laptop with me so I was able to enjoy free wi-fi in the lobby only, not in the rooms, which was fine. The hostel is located next to Vondelpark and off a short path away from the noise of traffic/trams. It's right near Leidseplein, which is a busy square with plenty of bars/clubs/coffee shops. The hostel was great for a short city break. Enough space in rooms sothat 6 girls didn'thad enough space and didn't step on each other. Eachhad own compartment for stuff but no place to put suitcases and 6 in aroom got a bit annoying. Shower took ages to heat up and when you needto be out a room by 10am its not ideal. Breakfast wasbasic, bread, jams, yogurt, museli, flakes, fruit, boiled egg, ham, cheese andsalami. Wifi only really works in lobby. Bar was happy hour'd between9ish and midnight! Tram stop is about 200m from hotel, about 5 stops awayfrom dam square.
