I was very impressed with the friendliness of the staff who were alsoextremely helpful. I also liked the old world style of the hotel. Thebreakfast was very good. The variety of food on offer is very often notavailable in such small hotels. The hotel is also extremely central.

We stayed for one night after an evening at Killarney races. The hotel while not luxurious is comfortable enough and the staff were very friendly. The bedroom was a decent size as was the en suite bathroom. There is free hotel parking close by but we just used the public car park at the back of the hotel as it is only one euro an hour with no charge for overnight. You can access the rear of the hotel from the public car park. We did not dine in the hotel so cannot comment on the food.

What I liked the most about the Arbutus Hotel was the friendly staff.Really chatty and helpful. My bag was brought to the room for me and Iwas offered a complimentary tea or coffee brought to the room (eventhough tea making facilities provided in the room). The decor is alittle dated but in a cosy romantic way. Its a family owned hotelwhich is good to see still in 2011 where the faceless group hotelshave all but taken over. I cant recommend this place highly enough ifonly for the staff ! Its in a great location, right in the middle ofKillarney. And was given a real Irish welcome .a home away from home !Clare Limerick

Our favorite hotel during our travels! Excellent accomodations in eachof our 3 rooms. Very close to all shopping, pubs and restaurants andsight seeing, Our children loved this hotel. Pool table, spa, and greatbreakfasts! Would highly recommend this hotel.

This is a very inviting hotel, antique decor, warm and friendly staff,nice food. Location is very central for strolling through the town andthe Jarvey Cars are located outside of the hotel to facilitate tours ofthe National Park and Muckross House & Gardens. I would highly recommendthis hotel.

Staff were very friendly, and the hotel had a casual, relaxed feel inaddition to the necessary formality and tidiness. We were upgraded onarrival and informed that this was just hotel policy if there werehigher grade rooms available which was impressive. We also decided tostay on an extra day at the last minute and this was no problem, andeven granted to us at a discount rate. Maximum ten mins walk from thetown centre but that was actually a benefit because it afforded peacefrom the noisy streets, while not being very far away, and also allowedeasier access to main roads - perfect if you're planning to do sometouring around. Rooms were clean, and well-sized, with impressivebathroom facilities.

Reception, hotel and restaurant staff were all very good, attentive and helpful. Room and facilities were excellent. Had a meal in the hotel on the first night which was freshly prepared and good value. We used the hotel as a base to visit the Ring of Kerry. Although the weather was not brilliant our trip and tour was very enjoyable. The hotel was very close to the main town, and could have been walked within 20 minutes although we drove into town. Spent an evening in the town at a typical pub with a live irish four piece group who were excellent. Would definitely stay at the hotel again, and recommend it to others.

I wasn't feeling well when I arrived at the hotel and the girl atreception was so helpful advising us of room service and no extra chargeand if we weren't up to going out that they have dvd's available. Thefood was fabolous that we got for room service. I usually stay here whenI go to Killarney and as always the hotel was excellent.

Coming from a couple B&Bs, we were a bit disappointed by the formalnature of this Hotel, but I guess that's understandable. Our room was onthe first floor, right besides the entrance, so we had a bit of noise,but nothing startling. Both the bedroom and bathroom were comfortable,but the latter had shower curtains instead of glass doors.

The Victoria House Hotel staff were very helpful and family friendly.ACot was provided in the room for the baby.The breakfast was very tasty,as were the meals in the Bar.The Bar itself had a good selection ofIrish Whiskey and the Guinness was perfect.The Jacuzzi in the room waswelcome after a day out sightseeing and the Bed was clean andcomfortable.I Would stay again.

Upon first arrival felt good about hotel. Small hotel by some standardsbut that is a plus. The staff are pleasant and engaging which alwaysmakes for a more comfortable feeling. Food in restaurant and barexcellent. Breakfasts superb. 30Minute walk into Killarney but plenty oftaxis if this is not an option. Bicycle hire beside Hotel to get aroundNational Park 1 mile down road - strongly recommend to get the feel ofthe beautiful countryside.

The proprietor and staff were so very nice and helpful and friendly. Myroom was spotlessly clean and very comfortable and overlooked the mainstreet in Killarney. Great location and good food in theirbar/restaurant. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it tomy family and friends as a good place to stay.

A well run family hotel with very helpful & polite staff. The accommodation was ofa good sie & very clean, with room cleaning & towel changes every day. The food in the lounge bar is excellent with the slightly spartan breakfast (compared with a nearby hotel in which we stayed on an earlier visit) the only minor negative point. We would definitely return.

The Old Weir Lodge in a nice hotel situated quite near to main street ofKillarney. You can approch the small down town hiking for ten minutes.The hotel looks like your grandma country house, and I have to say thatthe age of all staff confirms this feeling. We had an old-style room,very distance from the trend but absolutely confortable. The breakfastwas fabulous. You have to enjoy the express waffel, amazing!

Old Weir Lodge provides excellent service and accomodations. We would happily return to our spacious room. A minor note: At the time of our stay (Sept. 2011) the hotel wifi was confined to a small lounge on the ground floor - not even available in the dining area, let alone the rooms. This was inconvenient for us as we like to read our electronic news at breakfast. The hotel owners say they are soon installing wifi in the entire lodge. If this is important to you, you should check with them about this upgrade before booking. Otherwise, great place!

We are a very fussy couple re cleanliness and this is thecleanest hotel we ever been in, everything was immaculate. Facilitiesare fairly basic, but who needs a spa and conference room when whenthey're staying in an area like this. If we were returning to the area,which we probably will since we didn't get to go all the places weplanned, then we would definitely stay there again. Also, if you wantto go to a great restaurant, then try Chapter 40 in Killarney. We dinedin Fishy Fishy in Kinsale a few nights previous; it was lovely but notas good as Chapter 40, which we would rate as good as if not betterthan Rick Steins in Padstow.

The best of any B&B during my 2 week Ireland travels with my husband--down to the little things that I forgot to pack (like a shower cap) We stayed briefly overnight and for breakfast before checking out for our next Ireland destination. I would've been happy to stay longer because Abbey Lodge is very tastefully decorated in addition to the room offerings. The B&B is located on a very busy road but it is an easy walk to the center of Killarney. Although I am partial to an Irish greeting upon arrival, the Irish owner spend time speaking with us at breakfast and went out of his way to help with making phone calls--even offering his own cell phone when I couldn't use my calling card. All was of excellent quality at Abbey Lodge.

Small hotel and friendly staff. Ready to help in whatever you might require. Very nice rooms but don't expect stunning views. Perfect location, literally 3 min from city centre at the main road leading towards Killarney National Park. Free parking and Wi-Fi are a big plus.

The location is very good, it is close to the natural park and to the city center so you can walk everywhere. We arrived quite late in the evening and the reception was available and waiting for us, that was nice as the hotel is really small so you wouldn't expect someone to be waiting for late customers. It's also very cosy.

It was fantastic!! The hosts are so kind and lovely people. I had agreat weekend with my friends. This b&b is so comfortable to stay forcoulple or family. Before I booked this accomdation I worried about theheating condition as there are some complaints. But it was not cold inthe room and could take shower with very warm water!! The house isbeautiful and quiet and is good location to go to town.We had drinks inthe bar instead of going out for a drink at the first day. It was cozyand relaxed!! I would highly recommend here!!

Connor and his wife , the hosts of Glean Fia were very friendly andhelpful. They suggested a day trip itinerary that allowed us to exploreIreland off the beaten path that really enhanced our holiday. Glean Fiais in a great location- the house is in a quiet community just outsideof shopping and scenic sites for travellers like Ross castle andKillarney National Park. The diverse library, complimentary tea andbiscuits and honor bar helps this place feel like home. Its also asanctuary for nature lovers due to the babbling river that runsalongside the house. The location was perfect for exploring the Ring of Kerry. The hosts were knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. The wife in particular was unbelievably helpful and kind and really the perfect Irish host! We wanted to go to see the Skellig Island and she loaned us jackets, hats and shoes. My sister loved the hat she was lent and so our host gave it to her to keep. We decided to stay a second night because it was such a welcoming hotel. The breakfast is excellent and we came away with the recipe for the Irish soda bread that our host had spent years perfecting. They have a very nice lounge area with tea and coffee facilities and a bar to have a glass of wine or other drink at the end of the day. My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and I would definitely stay here again. It was, in addition, very good value for money.

hotel was nicer than what i expected and great value for money it is a real family friendly spot plenty for children to do. Pool area was nice. Bar area was nice portions were very small though. Rooms were very nice a great size. If you didnt want to venture to the town there was plenty to do at the hotel would def stay again

Great VFM, very central, loved the fact that they had the leisure facilities. We had an elderly lady with us so it was great that the hotel had all we needed and local shopping. Children did run amok a bit and the band wasn't great. Also the hotel is a little jaded but it was still overall very enjoyable as a short break and I would definitely go again and recommend it for the reasons above.

Freedon in hotel suites to eat in or in dining room.We had a disabled bathroom but shower had no carers screen while washing my daughter. As a result i got very wet from the knee down. It would also be a good ide to have the shower hose attached to wall to allow person with poor hand control to hang up hose while washing. The iron and trouser press did not work either i did report this to the lady at reception.
