The Hotel was superb but what was particularly memorable was the friendliness of the people of the area, we found everone we met to be very courteous and helpfull, especially in the shops and the staff in the hotel also. We like to also mention a brilliant restaurant/pub where we had ameal on our second night that is our evening meal it was Called the Cloister in Abbey St and the value for money was excellent the food, Gourmet class, with genuine friendly staff who made us feel we were coming home again the welcome was so heart warming. All in all a most enjoyable week-end full of entertainment with all the places we went to from Bunratty Castle and park to the Allwee Caves and the Cliffs of Moher and also the charming little villages we visited on our travells and finished it all off with a drive along the Lough Derg lake on our way back to Cork. I must also mentionJ>P Clarkes Restaurant at Bunratty Casle as it was enlightening to get such fine food and such a pleasant welcome

The staff were incredibly friendly, and couldn,t do enough for me. Themanager kindly brought my luggage from my car to reception when thehotel carpark was full, then arranged for a porter to help me to myroom. Any enquiry I had was met with a wonderful friendly answer, thankyou. Our room was immaculate, and beautiful too. When we read aboutthe history of the "old ground hotel", we decided to have a look aroundand find the famous fireplace! We found it with the help of a young ladwho was tidying up the suite... He was extremly friendly, and told us asmuch history as he could, I was so impressed by his manner, I asked hisname...Conor! A credit to your staff! Thankyou so so much

We stayed at the Old Ground Hotel last year as our last stop beforeflying home to Canada from Shannon and wanted to stay again. When wewere given our room we were very disappointed with it . The room wasvery worn and stained carpets. When we told them our concerns at thedesk they were more than accommodating and immediately moved us toanother room which we were more than happy with,...they said they wantedto make sure our stay was memorable and it was. The staff is outstandingand the hotel is filled with character. The pub the Poets Corner servesgreat food at reasonable prices. It was our best stay in Ireland andwould stay again when we return....would highly recommend
