I made my reservation on line from the states. When I arrived there was a mix up as to my actual arrival date as the Hotel had me down for the day before. The gentleman behind the desk basically told me I was out of luck, that my card had been charged and if I wanted to stay I would have to pay again. If I had another option I would have taken it, but after a long flight from NY I just wanted to get in a room. It was a shame as I returned to Dublin for 2 days at the end of my trip and stayed else where when I could have stayed at the Portobello again. The room was clean and perfect for my trip. Because of the above, sorry to say, would not recommend the Portobello to others.

The hotel was clean and comfortable with excellent facilities. The staff were extremely helpful - they couldn't do enough whatever the request. Problems were solved straight away. A huge breakfast was included in the price and was very tasty. Although there is a club attached to the hotel (Over 30s - very good) we did not hear the music. We booked the room for 6 people which was actually a very nicely appointed suite - very good value. We were within half hour walking distance of Temple Bar and Harcourt street for going out.

We chose this for amenities such as free wi-fi throughout the hotel, teapot in room, iron/ironing board, etc., and its location fairly near citycenter without being in the noisy Temple Bar area. The staff were very helpful with bus line and other information. The corner room had beautiful views of the canal, with fresh air available from large windows on each side of our room. The pub on the ground level had friendly staff and good food.
