I stayed at the hotel on the 11/11/10. The staff were all very friendly but there was one particular gentleman who worked in the bar ( he was dressed in a suit so I am assuming he was a bar manager) who was very professional and attentive to all of the guests. Its people like this who help to make a hotel stand out and that is why I will be returning to stay at the hotel again with my family.

The Talbot Hotel was the best of all the hotels we stayed in. The rooms are a nice size and very comfortable. We were able to open the windows wide, allowing the fresh air to come in. Staff friendly and helpful. The food served in the Liberty Tree restaurant is excellent. We really enjoyed our stay at the Talbot Hotel, Carlow and will definitely be staying there again.

A lovely spacious, modern hotel, very well located to visit the beautiful Gardens of County Carlow. Just off the M9 means it is very central and so easy to reach from Dublin. All of the staff we encountered were extremely courteous and friendly which ensured a most relaxing stay - we'll definitely book this hotel again.

Gavin was extremely welcoming and although I arrived at approx. 11.00Amhe was happy to make a cooked breakfast as I had been up since 4am. Hethen kindly took me to the Ivy Rooms where my brother was playing in theworld Billiard Championships. The Red Setter is located centrally inCarlow on Dublin Street and is within easy walking distance of a numberof bars and places to eat. The rooms were clean, comfortable and hadfree wifi. The breakfast offered a choice of cereals, fruit and fruitjuices along with full cooked breakfast plus tea/coffee and toast. I would recommend the Red Setter as a central, welcoming, value for money B&B and would certainly return in future as it is a good base from which the see the surrounding area.
Helen  — 8.2.2012.
I found the Red Setter a little difficult to find. It is on a one waystreet and didn't 'stand out' . However I got very good directions anddoing so found that the locals are really friendly and it was a goodexperience. The greeting at the Red Setter was second to non andthereafter the staff were friendly and helpful and cheerful. Frankly itis one of the best places I have ever stayed in . The building is lovelyand the decoration old worldly and really well done giving both a homelyand luxury atmosphere. I was travelling to Cork from Dublin and had tostop in Carlow for a meeting and so glad I did.

The owners were friendly and hospitable, a family run welcoming guesthouse. I would classify this hotel as a guesthouse/ B&B rather than a hotel however.

This is a clean friendly efficient B&B not a hotel ,I had difficulty finding it as I was looking for a hotel , when found it was fit for purpose .

This hotel has the friendliest, most accommodating staff, and nothing istoo much trouble. Loved to swim a few lengths, relax in the jaccuzzi, then in the steam room; repeat as often as possible as pool/spa are openall day during the summer. We checked the Rivercourt's position onGoogle, so the rather discreet arched entry (immediately prior to thebridge on the left) was relatively easy to find, a warm welcome after along drive was much appreciated and our room suited us down to a T. Thehotel's location made shopping, sightseeing, eating/drinking out asamenable as was possible for 2 seniors with walking difficulties in thisfascinating city.
Susan  — 16.12.2011.
I was so pleased with this hotel, from its excellent location, in the heart of the city and a prime location on the river opposite the castle. Close to everything cultural or otherwise, to the value for such quality hotel. A 4 star with lovely rooms, pool & spa, free in room movies, even the car parking was reasonably priced at 5 euro for 2 days. Unfortunately we didn't eat in the dining room, but I gather its won awards. The breakfast was very nice. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. You can't go wrong in this lovely hotel.
Pauline  — 29.12.2011.
What I liked best. Located in the City Centre but quiet and overlookingthe river and Kilkenny Castle, which was just beautiful. The food wasGourmet through and through, full marks for presentation and flavour. The staff were very helpful. I was able to park my car at the front doorof the hotel. Arrived early for check-in but rooms were ready. I had tworooms booked. We only stayed one night but would certainly stay thereagain when in Kilkenny. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Worst night ever. Stayed in Kilkenny Inn for one night at this hotel andit was long enough. Parties in the hotel rooms went on all night andeven after complaining to the night porter at 4:30am the parties didn'tstop. This hotel is only suitable for stag nights, don't go to thishotel if you expect to sleep at all. The walls were like paper and youcould hear every word said next door. We left once it got bright as theparties were still going on all over the hotel. Our complaint at thefront desk was completely ignored and even on returning I complaint byemail and this has also been ignored. Not a good service.
David  — 16.2.2012.
It has lots of shops to browse around in. The castle is worth a visit but i was disappointed we could not take photographs inside. The Black Abbey is also interesting. A visit to St Canice's Cathedral and the Round Tower is a must, but i would mention that the steps to the top are very steep so be warned. All in all it was an enjoyable 3 nights in Kilkenny.
Anonymous  — 16.1.2012.
The location was great- right around the corner from the High Street, but far enough from the noisier areas that a good night's sleep was possible. If anything, the descriptions from the hotel about their location make them sound further from the action and the sights than they actually are. We were very pleased with the comfort of the room.
