Room was nice size, and staff most helpful. Loved the views from the hotel ( a lot of windows around all ends of building and observation area on roof ). Very near Reykjavik University, and short 10 minute walk to city central, and all the taxi, city bus and tour bus service you could ask for.

The location is very good, with only a short walk along the lake into town. The hotel spa is very nice, and for that extra Icelandic experience, there is one of the city thermal pools only about 500 m from the entrance to the hotel - ask for Vesturbæjarlaug.

Nice modern hotel, with clean business-travel style rooms. The hotelstaff is quite good. The iceland museum is right across the street andReykjavik city centre is a 20 minute walk away.

We went during a particularly busy time and it was the only availablehotel we could find. It was clean (hugely important to me) and the staffwas helpful. There was a resturant in the building with compimentarybreakfast. It was a walkable distance to the city center. The lobbydesign was updated and nice. It seems to be on the hotel circuit and thetours were all able to pick us up at the hotel.

The family room had an interesting design, with a spiral staircase and a loft bedroom and a sofa bed in the downstairs part of the room. Our teen kids loved sleeping in the loft and it added a unique aspect and more space than you normally get in a hotel family room. Luckily they were old enough to manage the staircase without much trouble. I think little kids might struggle. The continental breakfast was perfectly adequate each morning. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. We picked the hotel for location and rate - and as advertised it was a very easy 10-15 minute easy walk to town, for shopping, restaurants etc. The very best restaurant was right next door - Harry's. Great service and wonderful food, very convenient.
Rigby  — 6.1.2012
We had a great room, 214 in the front of the hotel, 120 degrees ofwindow. Not that there is any real view. The lady at the front desk wasso helpful booking trips and the staff were great, she should be singledout and commended. Breakfast buffet was very good, hotel clean, bedcomfortable, couple of places to eat close by. Harry's was great valuefor money. Would stay there again. There is a grocery store close by andthe hotel is close to the shops. The hotel rooms are more European insytle, don't think that you going to get tonns of space. We had a doubledelux which was quite spacious for the two of us. We didn't need thepull out bed so used it as a sitting area.

The design of the hotel is lovely, the beds very comfortable, and it's just far enough from the main streets that the weekend noise doesn't reach it. The view of the bay and of Esja was beautiful. We really enjoyed the multiple spaces for socializing, and the top floor restaurant was chic and sweeping views. The staff was very accommodating about helping with reservations including being late to book the return to the airport. The spa is gorgeous.

Wonderful view over the bay and the mountain from our deluxe twin room.Breakfast was really nice with a good selection (had it 4 mornings).Great with spa facility in basement; lovely hot tub and steam andregular saunas. We used it every day! The spa facility was included inthe room price for the deluxe room. Hotel within walking distance tocity attractions. Bathroom rather small with shower and no tub, butworked for us. Could hear traffic from road outside but was no problemat night (less traffic and window closed). Comfortable beds.

Great location behind the main road along the seafront. View from our deluxe room over the bay to Esja mountain was beautiful. This view, and around to the rest of the city, can also be seen from the 8th floor breakfast room. Breakfast choice was fantastic with hot and cold buffets. The room was adequate size with safe, power shower and comfortable bed. A cable was provided from reception for internet. The TV had only a few channels. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Parking is OK, 4 spaces at the back and 1 at the front. On street parking is cheap (and free overnight). Easy to get out of the city along the main road in front of the hotel. We didn't get to use the free spa, instead went twice to the Blue Lagoon. Highly recommend this hotel.

Really good location. Bright and clean, everything was new and really well designed. We found it very comfortable and cosy even though it was cold outside. We had a great view of Hallgrimskirkja (Reykjavik's iconic church) on one side and the main street Laugavegur on the other. Perfect location. As it was an apartment not a hotel, we didnt see the staff after the warm welcome. If we needed anything we just needed to call the office and the staff were really friendly and helpful. I'd definitely stay here again if i was back in Reykjavik.
Arthur  — 22.2.2012
The location was 1/2 block off the main shopping street and just next to a tourist information office. The apartment was spotless and had a refrigerator and dishes and I bought cereal and milk from the 24 hour food store one block away and we had our breakfast there. There is also a range and pots and pans if you should want to cook. We were a five minute walk from the old harbor and surrounded by various restaurants. Don't forget to visit the bakery on the main shopping street for great homemade bread and pastries that I brought back to the apartment for breakfast every day. Great free WiFi connection, flat screen television and sofa. It was really nice after doing a lot of walking and sightseeing during the day to just come back to our apartment and rest for a little bit. We will definitely stay here again and also recommend it to our friends.

The apartments were very nice. The kitchen was proper and contained everything that one would need to kook even the most extensive meals. The jacuzzi was great, the location in downtown Reykjavik top-notch. Yet, most importantly, the personnel was incredibly helpful. The (few) problems we encountered during our stay were solved quickly and professionally - and with a smile. All in all, an apartment that I would recommend to anyone, from families to business people.

Had booked the budget studio for 2 nights either end of our tour of Iceland. Were upgraded at the start of our holiday to a spacious apartment with a sofa and dining table though even the more compact studio we booked and stayed in on our second visit was well organised to make use of available space, clean and comfortable. We were greeted at the apartment within 5 minutes following a phone call from us to announce our arrival (no reception). Our contact was more than helpful, organising the flybus pick up for us from Hotel Plaza accross the square. The location is fantastic if you want to be in the heart of all the action (earplugs provided!)

Central Apartments is perfectly located for a tourist without a car. Itis easy to become orientated, and a variety of attractions andfacilities are found nearby. It would also be ideal for someone with acar who needed a comfortable base from which to explore Iceland. In ourcase, the visit was brief and without a vehicle, but the location wasstill perfect for getting about Reykjavik. We arrived on an earlyflight and were allowed to check in immediately without charge as theapartment had not been used the previous night. The apartment was veryspacious, comfortable and clean. The person who checked us in wasfriendly and obliging. I would return and would recomment CentralApartments to a friend.

The central apartments are located at the heart of Reykjavik nightlifeand town centre. As there is no public transport to speak of inreykjavik, being close to the bars/shops/town centre was paramount.Although most of Icelands beauty lies outside Reykjavik, it is anexcellent city to base your day trips from, and central apartments is anexcellent option. We stayed in a budget studio apartment which was quitesmall. It had a double bed, basic kitchen facilities and small bathroom.I saw the standard apartments while they were cleaning them, and whileI'm not sure of the price difference, it would probably be worth it asthey look ten times more spacious and comfortable, with the sameapartment facilities. Another bonus is 2 supermarkets to choose fromwithin a 2 minute walk - one of them is 24 hrs. The bottleshop withlimited hrs is also right round the corner.

We arrived on an earlyflight and were allowed to check in immediately without charge as theapartment had not been used the previous night. The apartment was veryspacious, comfortable and clean. The person who checked us in wasfriendly and obliging. I would return and would recomment CentralApartments to a friend.

1912 is very conveniently situated for a visit to the centre of Reykjavik. However it has no sound insulation and its position means the it gets traffic noise, and, at weekends, sounds and smells of partying all night long, right outside the windows. So it is not a restful place to stay.

I liked my room with a balcony very much, and it is nice for a smoker to cold go out there. The situation of the guesthouse in Reykjavik is perfect. The wireless installation was perfect, so I without problems could use my new note-book. The informations of how to come inside in the middel of the night when I arrived was perfect. I liked very much, that I could go around in town, and go in and out to my room without problems, and don't have to use a lot of money for taxas. Nice little kitchen. Good helpfull staff.

Brilliant! The location was perfect - in the city centre but on a veryquiet side street. Less than 5 min walk to Iceland Excursions officewhere all day tour buses leave so super convenient. Near grocery store.Hotel has kitchen. The hotel was super clean and someone was clearlycoming in to clean the kitchen and bathroom daily. The cost is a littlehigh, but the value for money is still better than most places inIceland. The slightly higher cost keeps away less-favourable clientele.Everyone we met was educated, polite, clean, courteous etc. The wallsbetween rooms are very thin, but everyone really quieted down after 11pm and I didn't have any problems sleeping. The bed was pretty comfy andthe room offered plenty of storage. I would stay here again for sure.

We stayed at Hotel Holt when we got married in Reykjavik and had our reception dinner at the Gallery Restaurant after the ceremony. The service was impeccable - every one there went above and beyond to make sure that our wedding and reception went smoothly and we will never forget what a wonderful experience we had there!

Very friendly staff; they were servicefreindly and slways with a smile. The room was nice and quite cozy with a nice comfortable bed. I was also amazes by all the wonderful art on the walls; it was an oldfashion hotel but really nice. The food in the restaurant was really good and other good alternatives were situated close to the hotel.

Lovely place with personal feeling to it. The junior suite was roomy and comfortable. The regular double was big enough for the children. The view of the Church from my window was a bonus to look at each day (back side of hotel- rm 413) The location is quiet but also very easy to walk down into town or stay up on the hill and access multiple shops, restaurants and more beautiful views. The staff was exceptional and arranged for the girls to have massages in the hotel. The dinner we had at the restaurant was delicious and unique and the service world-class. I usually prefer small B&Bs when I travel but am very glad that we stayed here and will again.

Was at the Metropolitan Hotel for 3 nights. Perfect location, very cheap price. All I needed was to get my head down for 3 nights as I wasn't in the hotel much at all. Perfect location. For anyone doing the whale watching tour and 4x4 golden circle tour staying for a few days this is perfect.
Verna  — 22.11.2011
The staff at the metropolitan is very friendly, helpful, andaccomodating. The location of the hotel was excellent as it was withinminutes of the center of Reykjavik but on a quiet sidestreet so you'rewithout all the bustle and noise. The coffee/tea/cocoa bar was veryconvenient and a very "homey" perk.
Robert  — 7.2.2012
The staff was friendly and accommodating and the room, while small, waswell furnished with everything we needed. The central location was idealfor a quick trip to explore Reykjavik with my family as it was only ashort walk from the harbor and town square. And free street parking wasavailable for the weekend. The negative reviews here are excessivelyharsh. This hotel is a great value.
