Everything about this hotel reinforced the caring and welcomingatmosphere. Our room was big and spacious, and small touches like a freebottle of water and a drink at the bar on our arrival day were great. Our evening meal was one of the best in our whole trip so far;beautifully cooked and presented. The staff were uniformly helpful, polite and cheerful. We only stumbled across the hotel from the LonelyPlanet Guide but what a find and what a pity we couldn't spend longer. If you can stay here then don't miss the experience - it was a treat!

We loved this hotel. Everything was amazing. The staff were very helpful and polite. We were able to purchase tickets from reception for the steam train ride to the Brocken; one of their main tourist attractions . The hotel is located in the centre of the old town. The room was exceptional for cleanliness and attention to detail. Great value and the breakfast was the best we had in Germany. Not too difficult to get to Wernigerode by train (in the middle of the Harz Mountains). Train from Frankfurt to Hannover then to Wernigerode. From Wernigerode we travelled onto Berlin. Some train changes along the way. You need to have your wits about you, but it was worth the effort and the scenery is beautiful.

This is an excellent hotel. It is superbly located on the delightful main square in Wernigerode and has convenient parking in an adjacent multi- story car park. The decor is lovely and the staff a delight; even the ladies who clean the rooms took the time to say good morning. Breakfast was superb and the bar very good. The waiter in the bar was charming, incredibly knowledgeable and a made ordering a treat. The rooms were very good, ours was not large, but very pleasant with a bright very pleasantly fitted out bathroom; shower no bath. Highly recommended; not cheap, but a sense of having had great value for money. It is not far from the Harz Mountains National Park which are also just superb. Take the steam train to the very top station on the Brocken.
