Hotel has character and charm, very clean, not musty, all in good working order, is really comfy and convenient for 109 bus to and from Tegel. I have stayed here twice and will definitely stay again. I am an experienced business and tourist traveler so I am picky about where I stay. H. Residenz is really a wonderful hotel, very fairly priced, incredible location just off the Kudamm, friendly and helpful staff (courteous but not stuffy), and and affordable and very well prepared dinner menu. Full breakfast a bit pricey - but I find this is typical of hotels in Germany. Trivia: this hotel was used in the 80's movie 'Gotcha' and you will see the same front desk and front of the hotel. Only difference - the staff in reality are very nice.

(Too many city hotels have very little storage and you have to live out of a suitcase). The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The location was perfect, close to a main railway station and within yards of the tourist hop on/off bus starting point. The breakfast buffet provided a good variety of hot and cold but was a little expensive compared to the dinner menu which was excellent - beautifully presented food cooked to order. My only ciritisism of the dinner menu is that the choices were quite limited so if you were staying there for any length of time it would become boring. Having said that there are a wealth of good restaurants close by on which the hotel will advise. (Our friend had a superior single room next door which was as good but without a usea
