I liked the friendly reception, the staff was helpful and nice. I likedthat our dog was well accepted and that we got a comfortable table inthe restaurant near the window , where the dog could nicely lay down ina corner.The menus were excellent, the open wine from the region wassuper. I specially recommend the huge buffet for breakfast. From thehotel to the lake is about 3 minutes' walk.

Location was excellent and very quiet. Breakfast was good with a nice selection of breads, cheeses, meat, cereals and beautiful fruit. The strawberries and cherries were especially awesome. Our room was a little on the small side, but the bathroom was recently renovated and very functional. It was lovely to be able to walk out and be directly on the lake and to use the adjoining pool facility.

lovely location; ease of access to the lake and municipal swimming pool, and also boat to various other locations and train station - all in all, no stress and in good weather - heavenly. Friendly person at the reception who responded immediately when the single room for one guest did not have the expected sea view. All done with a smile - which contributes to the 'feel good' effect. Would hope to return in similar weather.

My husband, myself, and our two young adult sons stayed at the Hotel Gasthof Adler during a bike trip around Lake Constance. The hotel is located on a quiet street about 2 blocks away from the lake, so it was perfect for our needs. Our rooms were immaculate, and both had views of the lake. There was a covered area in back of the hotel where we were able to leave our bikes for the night. The breakfast included in the room rate was excellent and was served in a beautiful sunroom. We also ate dinner at the hotel's restaurant, which was delicious and reasonably priced. Several of the staff members spoke English, which was extremely helpful.

The host was very friendly; breakfast was plentiful and had a goodvariety; I ate at the hotel restaurant for a couple of nights and thefood was delicious and the service was great. One could eat in theolder, main part of the hotel, or one could eat in the large, bright,window-paneled conservatory-like room. I loved that area. It wasdecorated with plenty of plants and beautifully-colored paper napkins,folded to a point in the middle. I even took a photo of them! The bed was comfortable; there was good TV reception on a digital flatscreen TV; a nice deskspace was provided, and one medium glass of bottled water per day was provided; the bathroom was spacious and the shower was clean. The location was only a block from the train station, a grocery store, and a bakery. The post office was a couple of blocks away. We received a hearty welcome from the proprietor. Our room was clean andbed comfortable. We enjoyed a very tasty breakfast with a good choice offood in a pleasant dining room. We were also given a complimentary beerand apple juice! The hotel was handy for the lake (Bodensee), only ashort walk from the hotel.

Staff was very friendly and attentive. They had answers and suggestions to each of our questions regarding services in Lindau and the room was very comfortable. Absolutely an affordable stay for the great location, on the city wall of Insel Lindau. A perfect jumping-off point for a day of exploration. We will be back!

First, many of the other reviews have commented about the unfriendlinessand even "nastiness" of the owner. I must say, the hotel has either beensold or we dealt with someone else because the staff we dealt with werevery friendly, helpful and seemed very intent on making our staycomfortable. The gentleman was the "owner" an I found him to be veryeager and concerned about our stay. Now, as to the hotel... our room was a "family room" down in the basement. It was very basic and very "no frills". The shower was surpringly spa-like but towels weren't refreshed and the beds weren't comfortable. Typical for the area, there was no a/c and basement rooms have tiny ceiling level windows so it was miserably hot. The hotel should invest a few Euros in fans. (I asked - they have none). Although I would say the staff worked hard to serve breakfast and seemed concerned that we were happy, good service can't make up for bad or limited food. By Lindau standards, the rate was cheap and so if you
