This was a bare-bones, basic hotel that was only a couple of notches up from a hostel. There was no lobby, no restaurant, no bar, The elevator was the size of a postage stamp; we had to make two trips to get our luggage up to our room, which was spartan, to say the least. The hotel staff people were mostly indifferent, although a couple of them actually were pleasant and helpful. On the plus side, the small bathrooms were very clean; and the breakfast buffet, while not expansive, was very adequate. The primary advantages of the hotel were the location (two blocks from the Hauptbanhof), although there were many other, much nicer, hotels in the neighborhood, and the very reasonable prices.

The location of the hotel is good. The service is poor. Too noisy, as you can't sleep becuase of the noise traffic on the street. The problem is that you can book a room at the hotel 1-2 months prior to your stay but if you check in on Saturday or Sunday you will get the worst room at the hotel which either will be overlooking the trash place or a noisy street. There is no preference for those who book the room in advance. This system must be changed. If you book in advance you should have preference according to your wishes. And there should be no excuse by saying that you arrive on the weekend and the hotel is booked.

It was very near the Bahnhof which gave novices like us a sense of security because we were near tour origins and could also walk to many of the sights. The room comfortably accomodated two adults and three children which is a difficult thing to find in Europe. The breakfast included was wonderful with a wide selection of beverages, breads, cereals, pastries, cold cuts, cheeses, eggs etc. served in a pleasant breakfast area. We found no problem with noise altough there was some city noise to be expected. We did stay during a lull between summer and Octoberfest which may explain that.
