The chef, who is also the owner, has put together a team of young and very motivated persons who seem to be happy to serve their guests. The result is very satisfying for the client who is always and personally well taken care of. The kitchen of the hotel is excellent, food is to a very high standard and portions are generous. The staff speak German and most of them also French.

We stayed at this hotel for one night only but wished it was for longer. The room was beautiful, the beds were comfortable, and the restaurant was excellent. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had friends who stayed in the Freiburg city center and had big problems with traffic and pay parking. This was just 10 minutes away from the center but seemed like the countryside. The views were absolutely breathtaking....both from the rooms and from the restaurant. Would definitely stay again.

Fantastic facilities for the price, a hotel designed to cater for your every need and encourage you to spend money within the business rather than venture out into Frieburg. The breakfast was amazing and worth the hefty price tag, though I would advise you to try and sit out the entire 6am-11am time slot and eat as much as you can. The restaurant however was expensive and really struggled to deliver on the elegence that their menu suggested but with the sort of views we had to enjoy it really didn't seem to matter too much, I would strongly suggest that they get a new chef that can manage expectations a little better and deliver on the promise of excellence that comes with such a well run business. I would recommend this hotel to anyone passing through or near the area as a place to recharge their batteries and enjoy a small slice of the good life for a few nights.

The architecture and ambience of this hotel really makes for anenjoyable stay. The breakfast was the very best I've had in the lastcouple of years of many holidays.The room had a balcony over a quietcourtyard and it was really possible to relax.

A great old hotel in the heart of Freiburg. The staff were very friendlyand even upgraded us due to our reserved room was not available.Breakfast was the best of all the hotels we stayed in Europe for our 3week holiday. Room was great - large corner room with good views. Easywalk from hotel to the shopping district of Freiburg. This is a "collegetown" so many young people are about - much energy here.

I traveled alone to Freiburg to visit my daughter who is studying at theuniversity. The two of us stayed at the Hotel Minerva during my visit.The Minerva is a cozy little hotel tucked away on a quiet side streetwith easy access to Old Town Freiburg. The staff is very helpful andattentive. The common rooms and private quarters were nicely decorated,extremely clean and comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was one ofthe very best that I have had in any hotel, large or small!

No luxurious but it is spaceous, clean and it has all the basic needs.Free internet conextion and easy to park in the street. As most family-run businesses, the staff was very nice. The hotel is located in anindustrial area in the suburbs of Freiburg. Easy to access from the mainhighway. Highly recommend it for those travelling with a car.

The guy at the reception was very friendly and also spoke Italian (whichfor somebody like me not speaking german was a good plus!). The hotelhad also a nice napolitan-style pizzeria on the basement: perfect if youare travelling and don´t want to deal with chosing where to go to grabsome food. Great place for people travelling, it´s also very quiet

The reception (friendly Italian man) was very helpful and accommodating.Even though we had missed breakfast by half an hour the hotel waswilling to accommodate us and we received a breakfast that offered a lotof variety. There was also a pasta restaurant downstairs which wasfantastic and convenient. Across the road from the hotel was a park withmany pine trees and was refreshing to walkaround.

It´s my favourite hotel in Freiburg, great location, friendly staff, good breakfast, nice combination of design and the class of an old hotel. I was so dissappointed this time! I had a first class comfort room and it was a nightmare. Usually I have a normal, beautifuly designedl room with a lovely bathroom. This time the so called first class room was old fashioned, smelly and had a tiny bathroom and a couch from 1963. There was no vue on the parc due to the renovation. There is as far as I know no distinction in price between the marvellous room on the first floor I got last time and the one I got on the second floor. I never paid so much money for a room in this hotel (161 euro) and got so little quality in return. The first night our own travel agency got the junior suite for 134 euros. That was a great, little suite.

Because it is in the centre of a city, parking is difficult, so the factthat this hotel has an underground carpark and garages of its own waswell worth the 10 euros it cost us to have secure parking overnight. Thehotel itself is nicely refurbished and the staff, many of whom spokeexcellent English, were most helpful and friendly. There was a very goodbuffet breakfast. The hotel is located a few steps away from the oldtown and there are several restaurants there to choose from.

The staff went out of our way to make us welcome and comfortable. The room was very good with comfortable beds and the hotel was brilliantly located close to everything that we needed .Breakfast was very good with a huge variety of food. The hotel also provided us with free transport tickets for the tram and bus to get us around. We had a lovely stay and would recomend the hotel.

The location was great, the staff friendly and professional and thesingle room I had was perfect. The breakfast buffet offered amplechoices and the food served in the evenings was fresh and delicious. Asa single traveler, I often feel neglected by hotels and restaurants, butHotel Oberkirch was an exception. The staff was extremely attentive andhelpful. The free fruit and bottled water in my room were nice touches.

We loved our stay at this hotel. It will be the highlight of our trip.The staff was so wonderful that we miss not having them in the otherhotels we are staying in. We all agreed that the wonderful atmosphere ofOberkirch was the best due largely to the wonderful friendly staff.Weall plan to write wonderful reviews and to recommend the hotel toothers. The rooms were great and we appreciated the cookies, water andfruit. We hope to come back again. The best!!!!

The location in Freiburg of the Oberkirch is excellent - right by thecathedral and central to the pedestrianised inner city. The staff arefriendly and the service is excellent. We felt very comfortable and athome immediately. The facilities are limited only by the age and size ofthe building in that location (the garage, for instance, is very small)and the restaurant is a short walk away, facing the cathedral, but thefood is first class. We can certainly recommend this hotel and willdefinitely return.

We travelled from the UK by car to Feiburg and the loction of the hotel was perfect. We parked the car on arrival and didn't need to use it again until our return to the uk, as the hotel's location was convenient for all modes of local transport - trams, buses, train. The hotel was modern and spotlessly clean and all staff were very helpful and friendly. We were a group of 14 people travelling together - our request for all rooms to be together was granted as we were all located on the same floor. Our room rates included breakfast which was great and the food was plentiful. Safes are available for your use and are free.

Excellent location near to the Minster and town centre. We asked for aroom with a view of the Black Mountains and were not disappointed - ourroom was on the sixth floor with a wonderful view of the forest over therooftops. Although we were late arriving, the restaurant staff werefriendly and helpful and we enjoyed a generous platter of cooked meats,cheeses and salad and a free glass of wine. We had a little dificultylocating the hotel and car-park but once arrived, and with help fromreception staff, found the car-park to be conveniently situated beneaththe hotel with a lift up into the reception area. Breakfast at theMercure was probably the best we had while away, with a huge choice ofdelicious, freshly prepared food. We only sampled the cold buffet, buthot cooked dishes were also available.
