The hotel is like going back in time and gives people who stay there a real feel of Bavaria. The hotel has been beautifully renovated, while the room was traditional with beautiful wooden painted furniture the bathroom was brand new and as you would expect in a modern high standard hotel. The hotel is extremely well located and within easy reach of all the towns sights. The secure courtyard was an ideal place to park our car. Breakfast was fantastic with a superb selection and more than we could eat. Herr Hocher was the perfect host and he takes great pride in providing his guests with a memorable stay with his personal touch. We both found him extremely charming. Would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to experience a real taste of Bavarian culture.

The room was exceptional, so much better than I expected and the owner/operator was unbelievable.. Klaus suggested places to eat (where I am sure he frequents), and the service and food was wonderful.. he was the most helpful and delightful person I have met in Europe. I cannot say enough good about this experience, if you go to Rothenburg and don't stay at the Hotel Spitzweg, you have made a mistake. Not knowing about any of the hotels, we selected this for price and appearance, it is so much more. The community was very nice but Klaus Hocher made the experience.. Thank You Klaus!! You made my bride's and my trip to Rothenburg both memorable and a absolute reason to return to Rothenburg for another visit and motivation for me to learn to speak German. If all the German people were like you, the country could not hold all the influx of people. Other hotels/businesses should come here to learn how to do it right!! I wish we had have known how good this hotel was and I would have stayed

We stayed at Hotel Spitzweg on July 28, 2011. We chose this hotel because it was recommended in Rick Steves Travel book. It is located within the walls of Rothenburg and very close to the town center. Upon our arrival to this quaint walled town we immediately felt transported back to medieval time. The Hotel Spitzweg is indicative of the quaintness of this town. It is not a luxury modern hotel but instead a very quaint old world hotel with hand painted furnishings which we preferred and enjoyed. Our room was clean and cute and the bed was very comfortable. Our bathroom was on the small side with the shower a bit of a challenge but doable. The owner, Herr Hocher, is a jolly and gracious host and even shared a toast with us. Our breakfast was a mix of tastefully laid out meats, cheeses, melons, and breads. The big surprise, and highly appreciated, was the parking area located right next to the hotel entrance behind double wooden doors leading to the back of the property. Very
