Our family chose this guest house to stay in as it was close to all thesights we wanted to see in Bavaria. Although it is located in a verysmall town, it is very close to Garmisch Partenkirchen, NeuschwansteinLinderhof and several funiculaires. We had a car, but the hotel is justa couple of blocks from the train station which is only a 5 minute tripfrom Garmisch Partenkirchen. The hotel turned out even better than wehad hoped. It was decorated beautifully, and provided a luxurious andquiet base for our exploration of the area. Every afternoon, cakes andcoffee or tea were provided free of charge to the guests and they werevery generous! Breakfast was a very generous German style buffet. The"family room" comprised two spacious bedrooms with a shared bathroom.Everything was in great working order and the rooms were spotless. Our room looked like it was brand new, even though it wasn'T.Everything, including the bathroom was spotless! When we arrived, wewere invited to afternoon coffee and cake. A very nice touch! This hotelis located in a small town just north of Garmisch, a good choice toexperience a typical German village. When you hear the cow bells in themorning, grab your camera for a photo op because the cows are beingtaken from a nearby barn, past the hotel, to their pasture just outsidetown. This location would make a good base for day trips to nearbyattractions

The attitude and friendliness of the staff - especially regarding theoffered cakes also outside the 'cake time'. We got the feeling likebeing at home, yet surounded with mountains and amazing surrounding. Thelocation of the hotel is also excellent, and the feeling that you'rewelcome to come back anytime is appreciated. Even the changing weathercould not harm our stay. Some of us liked the flowers that surounded thehotel, but others the relaxing walks and the smiles of the hosts. Thetrain station is also near, if you use train.

Our stay at Hotel Garni Zugspitz was great( family of 4). It is a very good place for a vacation in the German Alps, especially if you want to stay outside of the crowdy Garmisch-Partenkirchen; the drive only takes 5-10 minutes. The rooms were great, the owners and staff were extremely professional and very open for requests, the internet was free and the location is excellent because it is very quiet, relaxing and you get a really great view of the forests and the highests peaks from that region. All in all everything was perfect.

Staying at the Hotel Gasthof Alter Wirt is like stepping back in time.Approaching the scenic valley of Garmish-Farchant nestled in theBavarian landscape with soaring mountains and charming farm cottagesdecorated on the outside with traditional artwork and multicoloredflowers hanging from every balcony, one feels transported into anotherworld where life is slower paced and connected to the land. The thing Iliked best about our stay besides the magnificent scenery was ourgreeting from the cows that would enter the town each morning andafternoon. I loved hearing the sounds of their moos and the clanking oftheir feet and lovely bells sounds. The breakfast was extremelydelicious and the waitress very friendly and helpful. Dinners were alsovery good and featured many traditional Bavarian fare.

We had an over-night stay here on our way to Italy from the UK. The room was very spacious and had a balcony with a view of the Hotel garden and main street. As a family of five I had looked for a hotel which could accommodate two adults and our children aged 14, 10 and 6. The room only had 4 bed spaces but the 6 year old slept in the middle of our bed. That was fine. I got woken up by a herd of cows complete with noisy bells walking past the hotel at 6.30am which was charming and a bonus. It meant I could enjoy the views of the Alps from our room.

The staff went out of there way to make us feel at home. The hotel felt more like a large home than a hotal as there were just afew other guest than ourselves (between seasons). The hotel was well appointed. Glass and brass finishes were polished and even though it was too cold to sit outside in the Beer Garden I could see how we'd enjoy a return trip next Spring/Summer hopefully.

The hotel staff was fantastic and very personalable! The hotel is center town and very close to downtown Garmish with easy access through public or personal transportation. The hotel resturant is very popular with all the locals as they were always busy, and the food was excellent! It appeared to be a very family and community oriented location. The price was perfect for my family and me. I will return next year!

The hotel is clean, quiet and comfortable. The service is great. The owner of the hotel is so nice to provide us what we need, and you feel that you are just at home. The small town is also very nice. I saw the most beautiful sky and stars in my life!

If you like to do things all on your own this is the place to go. We stayed in 4 man apartment. It was nice and convenient for our ski trip. The people from the Italian restaurant were very nice but had nothing to do with the hotel. The apartment was nice and had everything we needed, even pots and pan so I could cook dinner. Clean sheets and nice fluffy pillows. Great view!

After making a reservation at Farchanter Alm, I spoke with the Landlord informing me that there were no available rooms. She offered for us to stay at an apartment in Garmisch (Riesenberg) instead. Once obtaining the keys from the landlord, my GPS didn't recognize St. Martin strasse, I had to spell out Sankt rather than St... The apartment was quaint and cozy.

Is it normal that in the Ferien Wohnungen you dont have soap, shower gel, shampoo and an extra roll of toilet paper? It was very stressfull when you fly from Moscow, rent a car and drive 120 km to Farchant to learn that the first thing you must do is to jump immediately in the car again to rush in the supermarket for a piece of soap to wash your hands.

The hotel was superb value for money. It is situated in thePartenkirchen side of town. Excellent buffet breakfast. Ask for Room 22,they have excellent views of the mountains from the room and bathroom.Be prepared for an early wake up call at 6 o'clock when the cow bellssound as the cows go to the meadow in the Summer!

The hotel is a very nice facility situated in a lovely town. It islocated in the older section of Garmisch. There is a fountain in thestreet outside the hotel which was visited by a herd of cattle for anearly morning drink. The staff was friendly and helpful. Very goodbreakfast.

The hotel is located next to the historic Ludwigstrasse and the room had a very good view of the mountains. Many restaurants are located close to the hotel. The lady at the reception provided us with many travel tips and was eager to assist us in every way possible.

It was so clean; the breakfast, excellent; the evining staff person secured maps from the net for our trip to Zurich the next day and the map was horrible; this was not his fault. Someone needs to drive the roads and correct the information. We rarely forund the roads listed. The morning staff front desk person was excellent and gave accurate directions to places. Keep him. He advised us to just use directional signs to locations and trash the maps, which we eventually did. We loved the cleanliness and the excellent breakfast. The heated towels and floors would be a plus in the winter.

The management & staff were extremely helpfull,polite,& friendly.Our return flight to the UK was cancelled due to the Ash Cloud and the assistance provided to us by the hotel management in providing an exrtra nights accomodation and contacting the car hire & airline companies was excellent. We found the half-board dinner menue very satisfactory indeed. Altogether a most pleasant stay, and would recommend this Hotel which is also well situated for touring.

We stayed for two nights. Two double rooms with a connecting door have a good mountain and river view. We enjoyed very much with these rooms, steam sauna and pool without extra charges. Breakfast in a gardenside room was excellent. Of course dinner in a restaurant was also gorgeous for reasonable prices. Selfservice afternoon tea was also full of hospitality.

This hotel is out of the ordinary, not a standard chain type hotel whichwe both loved. With some extra care and staff training this could reallybe a great luxury hotel and the restaurant is on its way to being verygood indeed, its just a pity that not more people were eating in it. Theroom, breakfast and dinner in the restaurant were first class, thewaitress for breakfast was charming and very helpful as was therestaurant manager. To be honest the food in the restaurant was the bestwe ate over the five days we spent in Bavaria. Our room had great viewswith a nice balcony, the sauna room with its views was amazing. Ondeparture a mistake was made with the bill but sorted immediately. Wewill defiantly go back again.

This was a very nice hotel and the host was very gracious and helpful(and spoke excellent English). We requested a room away from the churchbells (based on reviews) and was provided a nice room, double bed with alittle walk out area with views of the mountains, and the bells were noproblem. I think this hotel would be great in summer, the pool and spaarea look great, but were closed for the season. We did use the sauna,which is in an upstairs area, also very nice. The breakfast buffet wasgreat, scrambled eggs and sausages, along with a variety of pastries,yogurts, cold meats and cheeses. Oh, did I mentione the fresh OrangeJuicer.. Great=)

The service was outstanding and the rustic style is very taseful. Iwould highly recommend this hotel if you are headed to Garmisch, andwould like to be in the center of Old Town. Either way, you are in for areal treat as the atlas is a fantastic four star value and I stronglyrecommend it for those looking for a taste of the Old Country withmodern accomodations.
