We were given a holiday apartment even though we had reserved only adouble room. It was so spacious and comfortable. I would definitelyconsider this option if folks were traveling with two children. Theapartment can easily accommodate 4 people as there was an extra singlebed in the bedroom and a sleeper sofa in the living room. There was abalcony and kitchenette with separate dining area as well. Breakfast wasvery good with the usual German meats, cheese, bread, yogurt but alsoeggs, fresh fruit. The location of the hotel is just a minute's drivefrom the centrum of Berchtesgaden in a very quiet location.

The accommodation was very clean and adequately furnished. It was a 10-15 minute walk into the town, but this is through a small wood, so youneed to take a torch if returning after dark (you dont feel unsafe butits very dark!). Although we were unable to have breakfast at the hotelthey did deliver fresh bread rolls to our door each morning which wasvery helpful. The swimming pool is nice for a quick dip and the gardenis nice to relax in after a day out sightseeing.

Would definitely recommend alpenhotel to other travellers. Tasteful,clean, spacious rooms that have a tv & fridge. It was serviced daily aswell as the surrounding facilities. Breakfast was delicious! Howeverthis was the only meal served. The staff were really attentive andwelcoming. On arrival we were given brochures about what to do inBerchtesgaden and also guest cards that gave us free transport on thebuses and discounts at sights. It's about a 15 min walk to town but ifdon't want to walk there is a bus stop at the end of the driveway. Wouldreturn again

The hotel has a stunning view of the moutains toward Koinigsee and an excellent resturant. Located just up the side of the mountain from shops and resturants in the village. The hotel staff were for the most part very helpful and friendly.

It was a magical little hotel surrounded by mountains. The room was verycomfortable and had lovely fluffy blankets. Its on a little hill and hasgreat views that you can enjoy from your balcony. The bar was fantasticand was the busiest place in town!! We had a great range of beers andschnaps there, and the food was very good.

They have renovated the hotel and it is lovely. The view from the dining room and some of the hotel rooms of the Watzman mountain is fantastic. The food is very good and the half pension (dinner) is a good deal. We have stayed here before and enjoy the hotel. It is close to the town and he many activities in the surrounding area.

Staff spoke good English both at reception and in breakfast room. Oneof few hotels in area we could find that could accomdate four withoutneeding two rooms. Children 12 and 8 a little young to have inseparate rooms.

Location was pretty central to Berchtesgaden city (a few blocks from thetown center). Could hear the cow bells on the hillside a few streetsover, which was nice. Be sure you print out the detailed map of wherethis place is, as it is not at all easy to find.

Had a very warm welcome. The seeting is beatiful - on a hill above the town overlooking an alpine valley with a direct view of the eagles nest. My room had a balcony - again with amazing views. The room was bright, clean, spacious & in fiting with teh alpine environment - extremely comfortable. Typical continental breakfast - tables outside on a veranda. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is a bit of a trek from the train station so get a taxi if your not up for that. Situated in the nicest street I have ever visited. Beautiul alpine houses and mountains all around you. Great place to stay and great value.

Good location for the price. Nice views from balconies. A hotel with basic amenities. The bathrooms are very small and outdated. The food in the restaurant was very good. We enjoyed it. Breakfast was good.

I stayed in 5 hotels in Germany on my holiday and this hotel was thebest. The pool and sauna were great and hardly used by others in theafternoon. The hotel was large and had ample parking and restaurant roominside and out. While it was a good 15 min walk to Berchtesgaden centrethat did not matter as it was a pleasant walk with the mountains in thebackground. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there.

This hotel is in a great location. It is about 20 minutes (walking) from downtown Berchtesgaden and a 2km drive from the Almbachklamm (gorge). The Salzwerk Salt Mines are very close as well and I had an amazing view from my balcony. Some of the other rooms have awesome views of the Kehlstein Haus (Eagles Nest). Breakfast was included and there was ample food to oad up before a day of hiking and climbing.

Very good location. It's easy to get to the hotel if you take the short cut. The mountain view from my window is superb! Just in the center of the town. A free transport card will be given with 5euro deposit. The breakfast is great! Helpful staffs! I will stay again in this hotel if I come again.

We were free upgraded to a partner hotel with balcony, the room is goodand the bed is ok. The view is execellent, especially on the morning.The breakfast is good, including fried egg, and the croissant is veryvery great. However, the location is not good, because the hotel on thehillside, you have to climb the mountain with luggages.

Hotel location very close to the pedestrian shopping area, some excellent gasthauses with good meals and good prices, and to city services. Room was spacious with great views. Breakfast meal was typical German fare and basically the same as two other hotels we stayed at on this trip. Train and bus station were a short walk away and very handy for day trips to area sites -- but remember this is an alpine area, and every walk is both up and down, sometimes steeply.

The pension is near the train station , like 10 minutes walk . Although there is the railway just outside of the house, it is not that noisy. The staff is very kind and friendly . The breakfast is also good . Nice place !

Refrigerator full of beer and soda along with glasses for your use atvery affordable prices. Wish we knew about discount cards prior toarrival. Could have saved money at the Eagle's Nest and Salt Mine. Shortwalk to town for dinner. Reserved the apartment for four, but were giventwo double rooms at the same rate.

Anyone We came in contact with was very cheerful and accomodating. Thebreakfast buffet was nice and the room was quiet and warm. We only heardthe train once and it just went by in about 2 seconds and was not loudat all. The way some people commented on it, they must have had thewindows open. It was November 17 and chilly outside. We wish we wouldhave booked for two nights because of the off season made it real hardto find another night's stay. We payed double the next night for apretty nice room but we had to drive out of the area a bit.

We enjoyed our stay from start to finish. The Drummer family were very hospitable, friendly and warm and made sure everything was perfect for us. The room we had was a two story suite with a balcony and excellent view. Yes, the guesthouse is a 15 minute walk from town which may put some people off, but it is a lovely walk along the side of meadows with mountain views all around. I would recommend this hotel to anyone that really wants to explore and get to know Berchtesgadenland. Thankyou Michael and Anneliese (and Max and Mona)

I thought the guesthouse was wonderful. What a location! Built in 1908the house has been held by the family throughout this area's'interesting' recent history. Room was really clean, welcoming andcomfortable, with a superb view over Obersalzburg and up to the 'Eagle'sNest'. Facilities in the room were first class. Breakfast was excellentwith a good selection of foods available. Easy to find and an excellentlocation for exploring the area. Berchtesgaden is a 10/15 minutes walk(mostly downhill) where there are excellent restaurants (and beers) tosample and good shopping too. I would recommend the guest houseunreservedly to anyone traveling in the area.

Spent 35 days on a Euro vacation with my girlfriend, this was by farthe best hotel we stayed in. Location is just a 10 min walk from thecenter of town. Perfect area, not busy or noisy, Outstanding views fromthe room's balcony. The staff/owners are what really set this placehigh above all other places. They really make you feel at home, theywill even cook you dinner if you ask. Breakfast is outstanding andplentiful. The owner truly loves what he does and it shows throughoutevery aspect of the hotel. He is not someone who is in it to get rich;they really do care about their guests. Rooms are nicely remodeled, butstill keep the atmosphere of the old building. I don't have one badthing to say about this place. Another plus is that the owner speaksgreat English and since his family has owned this hotel since 1908, hehas a great knowledge of the area for hiking and sightseeing. Stayhere, you will love it!

Very nice experience. You can't miss the hotel if you drive by yourself. Bus station is 10 min walk away and the hotel provide free bus card to guests. BTW, in the night you can see thousands of star in the sky and the dinner set by hotel is very delicious and valuable, you should have a try.

We had a fantastic stay here. The hotel was easily accesible from Berchtesgaden by car and was located in a quiet, mountain village. The room came with a guest card, which was nice, and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was good and our room had a balcony with a mountain view.

Difficult to say enough nice about this hotel. More like a well run band b than a hotel, with all the comforts of home combined withexcellent services, food, and hospitality. The staff was superb in everyrespect and the spectacular mountain view from our room was withoutcompare. The room was spacious, immaculate, and well kept. We can't waitto return.

- The room is clean and big. It has the beautiful mountain views as it is also at the moutain areas. -For those who love to take photos, this house could take a beautiful view of the Berchtesgaden city. -The bathroom water heater is quick to have hot water, unfortunately only have 2 small bath soap. -The owner, Albert and Bridgette are helpful, as it was raining when the day we depart, they took us to the train station, very kind of them.

A perfect position in a tranquil residential area overlooking the valley with to die for mountain views. 10 minute walk to the center of town (3 min. by car). Lovely breakfast to charge your batteries for woodland walks, day trip to Salzberg, a drive through the mountains, skiing or just relaxing. Frau Sattler and Herr Sattler are gracious hosts and the pension makes you feel welcome with it's homey atmosphere. It was decorated for Easter during our visit with painted egg trees and the spring flowers were blooming. Much better to stay in a typical Berchetsgaden house than a large hotel....The saltmine visit is 5 min away, Khellstein (Eagle's Nest) is just on the other side of the valley, the Konigsee is a 10 min drive and Salzburg and Schloss Hellbrunn are a beautiful 20 min by car or bus.

The Guest House am Berg is situated in the picturesque township of Berchtesgaden, south Germany. The town is surrounded by the Alps including Hitler’s Eagle’s Nest where many of the policies of the Nazi Party were developed. In winter, covered with snow these Alps must be spectacular but we were more than happy with the stunning views in all directions. The common balcony (our room did not have one) provides a great view over the town at all times of the day. We arrived by bus from Salzburg and needed to take a taxi to the guesthouse both because it is up a steep hill and we didn’t know its location. Guests are provided with a card to access free public transport not only in Berchtesgaden but through other towns and tourist destinations in the valley and on the hill. We used this extensively and saw many things in out of the way places simply by staying on the bus. Beautiful location and hotel. The rooms are clean and nice. The gourmet restaurant Le Ciel is quite good.

Everything was good during the stay. The helpful and very polite staff deserves special mention. They do their best to make your stay as good as possible. Ingela Heintz who worked in the 360 restaurant during my stay was very helpful and even had time to explain all kinds of things about the Berchtesgaden area despite her busy schedule. The ladies who work at the spa are also very professional and really know their work.

Beautiful location and hotel. The rooms are clean and nice. The gourmet restaurant Le Ciel is quite good.
