The staff were very friendly, helpful and spoke English. The hotel was cetrally located to the old town. The Sunday breakfast was a real treat with fresh fruits, and bread and champagne. There was a plate of homemade cookies with chocolates that were delicious.

- The standard room was spacious and clean; the bathroom was rather small but very well equiped and with everything on the right place, so after all very comfortable (and clean). - Guests visiting the Bayreuther Festspiele might find it interesting to know that the graves of Liszt and the Wagner clan are just a 100 meter walk opposite the hotel. - The shuttle service to the Festspielhaua (including in advance a glass of sekt and a small bite) made the trips to the opera very relaxing. - The car parking is inside the hotel.

The location is very pleasant, in the hills to the east of Bayreuth, the hotel being set in pleasant grounds with extensive and good views from some parts of the hotel. We were visiting Bayreuth for the Wagner festival adn it made a good base for such a stay. The food in the restaurant was good.

Waldhotel Stein was a pleasant surprise for us since we ended up stayingthere accidentally. The location is stunning, the view magnificent, andstaff very attentive. If we would have known about the details of thefacility we would have stayed not only one night. If you are looking fora very relaxing stay, that is the place to go.

I bought my ticket to the Festspielhaus at the last minute. This was theonly hotel available in Bayreuth! I was thankful for that! I did nothave a car and took the city bus from the train station. The walk fromthe bus, uphill to the hotel with luggage in tow was very challenging!In fact, I left my luggage at the bottom of an 89-step staircase a hotelemployee graciously drove to get it. I later learned you can also walkon the highway. At reception, I was greeted with a plate of fruit and adelicious chocolate bar. This "hotel" consists a guest houses in thatthere is not one building but many which house the various guest rooms.The first night I did not have a key as the previous guest had takenit...so I slept in an unlocked room, but still felt safe. It was quiet,peaceful and private on the outskirts of Bayreuth.

I stay in this hotel when coming to the Wagner Festival. It is very wellorganised for the festival. I enjoy being able to eat breakfast andlunch or 'brunch'. The extra things such as drinks before the bus takesus to the opera make the experience special. The restaurant is lookinggood and the menu is good value for money.

Very pleasant and well-prepared for the Wagner Festival - especially the movies, DVDs and videos from previous festivals that were screened in the lobby. Food was excellent and the daily brunch that was included in the room rate was wonderful. Staff in the bar and dining room after festival performances were well-prepared to handle the incoming crowds after 11:00 p.m.

We enjoyed staying at the Arvena during our visit to Bayreuth for theWagner festival. I would recommend the hotel as an ideal base for thispurpose and we will definitely stay again. The staff were very pleasant,brunch breakfast delicious, room air conditioned and very practical -except for the absence of a wall dressing table mirror! However therewere other mirrors in the room and these were quite adequate.The hoteltransported us to the festival grounds each evening in a traditionalvehicle - the ideal way to be noticed on arrival. We walked backafterwards - about 10 min but not strenuous. The hotel were waiting toserve drinks and meals after the performance - on our first night we didnot attend a performance and watched them prepare for the hungry andthirsty audience to arrive! Throughout our stay nothing seemed to be anytrouble for the staff and we were very impressed.

The location was excellent - only a 5 minute walk from the old town,maybe a 20-30 minute walk to the Wagner Festspielhaus. Bayreuth was awonderful place to visit - everyone was incredibly friendly, and evenwhere English was limited (and our German pretty much non-existent), wefelt very welcome at the Goldener Lowe and in Bayreuth in general.

It is a charming little hotel with long history. We wanted to visitKulmbach on the same day when we arrived, and the ladies at thereception were very kind. They checked the train connections on theinternet, but they advised us to drive with car, which was at the end amuch better idea. Our room was on the street side of the building, butvery quiet, big, and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious, withlocally made marmalade. When we settled our bill, we have received as apresent a small jar of it, which was a nice gesture.

This hotel was one of the most comfortable and pleasant hotels I've everstayed in. It had the simple, rustic charm of a traditional German'Gasthaus' combined with a more modern sense of design. A uniqueatmosphere and a remarkable attention to detail -- I couldn't havewanted anything more from my room. I enjoyed eating dinner in therestaurant, and the complimentary breakfast served the next morning waswonderful. I'm sorry I could only stay one night. Once you get orientedin Bayreuth, you realize that it's just a short stroll from the hotel tothe main square and center of town. (The cab ride from the Hauptbahnhofwas only about 8 Euros -- recommended if you have a lot of luggage.) Thestaff was friendly and helpful, offering tips about the shopping in thearea, and when I checked out they gave me a complimentary bottle oflocal jam (that turned out to be delicious).

The staff were exceptionally helpful and courteous. The Hotel wasspotlessly clean. The breakfast was wholesome with a wide variety ofcereals, fruit etc available. The rate was great value. I wouldrecommend the Hotel to anyone visiting Bayreuth in or out of the Wagner/ Bayreuth festival season.

Not what you would expect, as Hotel is whole of the top floor (andseparate) of a shopping mall! But actually was very good indeed! Bigroom, comfortable, modern and airy, and not at all noisy. Internetaccess good. Very good breakfasts. You definitely need a car. Goodsecure parking underneath building.

The breakfast was good and the staff friendly. It was in a beautifullocation away from the main part of the city. The bus stop is right outfront and after we learned the schedule it fit our needs perfectly. Acab costs about 10 euro so it is best to know the bus schedule iffrequent trips into town is planned. Overall it is a nice hotel andworth the price.
