Great location in Bacharach Germany. Brusque innkeeper on first meeting assisted us with international call which was appreciated. Very nice Slovkian employee was kind and helpful throughout our stay. Across street from very good restaurant (Altes Haus).Would say that innkeeper should realize how important first impressions are and that travelers expect a warmer reception. We stayed in 10 hotels in a month and this innkeeper needs Rick Steves "coaching."

This was our second stay at the Hotel am Markt. We liked it so well thefirst time we decided to bring family members with us for a second stay. The staff was friendly and helpful and the breakfast was very good witha great variety. We were on the 4th floor of this old building and hadthe entire floor just for our group. It had a common area with chairsand a sofa so we could all get together outside our rooms. The hardestpart was getting our bags up the spiral staircase to the top floorwithout a lift. Once we had accomplished that we enjoyed the wonderfultown of Bacharach and the Rhine valley. The rooms were all remodeled andvery nice. The bathrooms were exceptional for such an old building.

The owner(we assume, it seems like a family run hotel) was very friendly and kind. We arrived in the mid-night, and he opened the gate by himself and as well provided a child blanket for us(we mentioned it at the begin). We got the room with best view balcony, but which means we also had some noise in the night because we were close to the main street, so it depends. Breakfast is ok and location is great. It's just nearby the river and hills. We let our young son run through the "beach" while we were sitting there for relax. Nearby the hotel as well are many tracing routes, we did one, and it ended up in a fantastic panoramic peak. We will like to recommend to others who hasn't been there should go at least once.
