The hotel is very well situated in a pedestrian precinct and beside the river in the centre of the city. Breakfast was very good and the standard of the meals we had in the Bistro and the Gastronomic restaurant was very high, well served and enjoyeable. The management and staff were very pleasant and helpful. The city of Verdun is a bit rundown in parts but the battlefield monuments and remembrances are first class (the reason for our visit ).

Pleasant traditional town centre hotel right by the River Meuse - close to tourist information and local restaurants. Hotel has a bistro/restaurant attached - good food with attentive waiting staff. Luggage can be dropped off at the hotel but parking seems to be resticted to public parking. There is a large public car park a little further down the river bank around 300m from the hotel.

The hotel is located in the heart of Verdun, right next to the river and on the walking street. they have an excellent restaurant adjacent to the hotel.

Clean, okay for an overnight stay to break a long trip into 2. 30minutes into the centre of Verdun (on foot!), 10 km from all the 1stWorld War Memorials and Sites. Very handy car park(s) in front of andbehind the hotel. Staff extremely helpful with maps and givingdirections to the sites.
Lise  — 10.8.2010
The hotel is a refurbished mansion. This time I had a single room and the price was right for what is morelike a nun’s cell than a hotel room by American standards. So all in all it was an excellentstay after a busy day.

Arrived after 9pm. Used the hotels automated check-in service which worked well. Hotel was very clean with very functional rooms making the best use of space. We had a room for 3 but had 4 in it. Our young children slept in the same bed, which is above the main double bed. It says not suitable for kids under 6. We had free Wi-Fi in our room which was a bit slow but not bad. Hotel is close to several restaurants, ended up in McDonalds for the kids. Got up early and had their breakfast which was very good value. Would recommend this hotel for staying in for 1 or 2 nights.

The Hotel was in easy reach of the ww1 locations. It was quiet and thehost was friendly although noone spoke a word of English. The food wasgood but costly. The selection was too ambitious, for example why wouldthey have 'Kangaroo'((?Australia) or 'pigs ears' on the menu where youngchildren were staying! There was a lack of other alternative eatingplaces or facilities for buying snacks. The only place was the town ofVerdun, where it was difficult to park and even then it was difficult tofind a supermarket. The Hotel did not have any up to date information ormap of the area.

This is an amazing hotel - quite eccentric! The owner is a very charmingman and a master craftsman and artist. Each room is individuallydesigned - ours was in the style of Picasso. The restaurant furniture isall handmade - very beautiful. The food was also delicious and againthere were eccentricities - shark and kangaroo were available for theadventurous!

Unique and beautifully original site, handbuilt by the proprieterpersonally. Very nice staff/attitude and good meal much above average, very reasonably priced. While the Verdun area is visited as rule for itshistorical associations rather than holkidays as such perhaps, this mustbe one of the best places in the area to stay.
