Staff was overly accommodating: perfect English, changed/upgraded our room to a balcony upon request. Really lovely hotel setting on a gorgeous golf course. Even if golf is not your game, do get out and walk it. The views are spectacular.

We were there to visit the American memorial and cemetery, and the hotel was a short drive away, so the location was great. This hotel was nothing fancy but very clean, great value for the money and the staff was superb. I enjoyed the location right next to the harbor, although I guess some might find that off-putting I think it added to the charm. Lovely walks from and around the village. Would definitely go back and stay here again. The hotel is exactly what it says on the tin, if you're looking for something with character, this isn't it. If you're looking for a comfortable place to crash for the night that is clean, friendly and good value for money in a great location, it is perfect!

The staff was wonderful. Helpful with providing ice and lending a coffee cup so we could have tea in the room. Great hotel and parking (a little strange as it seemed a circuitous route to the parking lot but once there, safe and secure and was directly behind the hotel). Awesome location. We saw the Bayeux tapestry and participated in BSA at Normandy. Business computer available! Was able to send out a few emails! Quiet and Port de Bessin is a pretty nice little fishing village right on the water with lots of restaurants!

The hotel was clean and functional. The rooms were large and the showerwas great! The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was goodwith typical french fair! Excellent secure parking at back of hotel! Thelocation was fantastic for visiting the D-day landing beaches andBayeux! The town of Port En Bessin is a brilliant little French fishinghabour with some very good seafood restaurants. Le Bistrot d'a Cote andLe Vauban (both not on the habour front) were by far the best!

We are a family of six with four children 10 and under. Ieven got a rose for Mother’s Day which was a lovely surprise. This hotel(resort really) was a refreshing change of pace from all of the otherhotels and apartments that we have rented during the course of ourtravels. It was nice to feel like they actuall.

Loved the accommodations - bright, clean, well appointed for selfcatered. Hotel staff waswelcoming and created a relaxed atmosphere upon arrival. Lounge area atreception and indoor pool were inviting and comfortable. Definitelywould return!.

Good family base, a little basic and very small apartment. Major safety issue. I ended up taking the window handleoff to prevent this happening. Very poor design for a family apartment.

Hotel was fairly ok. staff were helpful,rooms were small,but the location is perfect for ’wanderer’. very close to main bus terminal,and just opposite of the train station.

The hotel is right across the street from the train station and not far from the city centre. The staff was very friendly, and spoke a bit of English. It is definitely a budget hotel, but clean, with decent rooms and a good bathroom.

The location was excellent, only 5 minutes walk from Caen city centre, and parking was available along the front of the hotel (only 3 euros for overnight parking). The staff and hotel manager (who spoke good english) were also very friendly and accommodating, and the room was comfortable and simply decorated (some 2 star hotels can have a very 'dated' appearance), with a plasma TV screen. Due to the great value for money and fantastic city centre location, I would definitely choose to stay at the Hotel De L'univers again!

Staff were fantastic, manager spoke perfect English and was very helpful and friendly. Cleaner was noted doing an excellent job. Location fantastic, next to marina/canal/river and large car park where a great market is held on Sundays. Loads of pubs/restaurants nearby. 5 min walk from bus stop (arrived as foot passenger from ferry). Bus stops opposite hotel (used these for trip to Caen Memorial museum and return to ferry).

Very good location close to the city center. Parking closeby was free (but, as we arrived on Saturday evening and left on Sunday, I don't know if this is the case during weekdays). The breakfast was excellent. Caen is a nice starting point for visiting the D-day beaches, but it is also a lovely city to walk through (especially the castle of William the Conqueror).
