Located in the heart of Pontaubert a small Burgundian village of 350 souls, this property has welcomed guests since 1948 in a peaceful environment.

Everything!!! The rooms have been recently updated with everything. The room was very unique with a door leading into a private hallway which had the WC off it.In the main bedroom it was quite large with an adjoining ensuite complete with Bath and Shower. There is a private lounge for guests only where you can read or use the provided computer which is well furnished with new furniture. WIFI is free throughout if you bring your Laptop and the signal is strong and fast. A great place to read/work and enjoy a drink. The staff were great and the food superb. The location in this quiet village ( Pontaubert) is perfect for those wanting to explore the multitude of sites nearby. Clear rivers flow throughout the area which are very good for fishing by fly or otherwise.Hiking opportunities are endless. The Cousin river which flows through the small town is famous for it's trout fishing. Although it is not rated by Booking.com Reviews quite as high as others in this village I took the time

We realised we would be 30 minutes late for booking in but rang the hotel and it was not a problem. We were given a warm welcome by the person on duty who we think was the co-owner.This was a Sunday night and off season and so the restaurant was closed for dinner, but 200 yards away there was an excellent very high standard restaurant which he recommended us to go to and we were not disappointed. We had a comfortable night's sleep and given a very good breakfast for 9 Euros per person. The room was 55 Euros for two in a double bedroom with shower. We would be happy to stay again at the Au soleil D'Or. We chose the area as we were breaking our journey from the South of France to Paris. We prefer to keep away from large towns and cities.

Both owners and staff are very welcoming and go out of their way to make your stay very pleasant and comfortable. The restaurant is very good. We also enjoyed the presence of the birds and dogs. Beautiful surrounding for sightseeing by car, bicycle and foot. We hope to go back!

Charming location and the organisation of the whole place. Very friendly owners and personnel. The hotel also has a restaurant offering an extremely authentic cuisine. The dinner was amazing, totally fair price/quality ratio. It is definitely a good place to make your base of for a couple of days discovering its beautiful and also culturally very interesting surroundings.

Rustic charm. As a base for visits to local monasteries etc. We arrived at 7pm but all tables for evening meal were taken and that was one of the positive reviews that attracted to this hotel. However the staff directed us to an excellent restaurant in the pictuesque village.But if you want to sample the local cuisine , book ahead.

The staff were very warm and welcoming. Our room was rustic and prefectly adequate for our needs and was quiet with lovely views into the woods and river. Dinner was wonderful and great value and although a little expensive for a simple continental breakfast, breakfast was most agreeable and a pleasant start to our day.
