Everything about this hotel, more like an an inn because it has few rooms, was well done...from the decor and the furnishings (some lovely pieces in the breaksfast room) to the breakfast itself. At breakfast, we sat a large table with other guests which made the breakfast into more than nourishment for the body. The hosts Dider and Eric, we mostly interacted with Didier, are fun with a good sense of humor yet have the seriousness needed to run a fine establishment. We had a suite which had a very comfortable bed and necessary bedroom furniishings, all tastefully done, in one room and a "living/sitting" room which was also tastefully furnished and comfortable. (Just an aside....the water pressure and water temperature in the bathroom were excellentand the towels were a good size, not at all skimpy.) We enjoyed our stay at the Hôtel du Haut Marais.

What did we like best, everything. The junior suite we stayed in was fantastic, stylish with everything a weary traveller on the road for 10 weeks could wish for. Bathroom was well thaught out and the most user friendly of all the hotels we stayed in. The breakfast room was a real surprise and the attention to detail wonderful as was the breakfast. The hosts Didier & Mark were fantastic. I've been going to Paris for over 35 years and never have we been so warmly received. To top it all off Didier recomended the most fantastic restaurant to us for dinner. I cannot remember a better meal in the 15+ trips I have taken to Paris. Having had a hotel myself for 14 years this is not a 5 star establishment but a 15 star guesthouse/home. This will be our base for Paris in the future.

1. The building is very well restored. The owners respect the context of the area, at the same time the bathrooms are functional, etc. 2. The size of the room, and the comfort, for Paris, is top-grade. We had two rooms, enough space for everything. And the hotel even has an elevator. 3. The location is in a street without traffic, invaluable in Paris, so that you can sleep with open windows and not be bothered by passing cars. This is really the best part. Finally, the owners are very helpful and knowledgeable, from where to find a cigar to where to go for dinner, this is precisely why one stays in b&b and not in Best Western. And, of course, this is Marais, you are a step away from Rue des Archives, etc.
