I confess that I booked this hotel with a bit of trepidation due toreviews I read here, the first impression and get off at metro stationreally was not the best, but otherwise, I consider that an excellentchoice. The hotel is practically next to a subway station and near theGare du nord (you can walk smoothly with suitcases). It really hasbarely seen some people on the street and for those who are notaccustomed to it, may be cause for concern, but my wife and I went outevery night for dinner or sightseeing in the area of the moulin rougeand have not had any problems. Many people on the street, tourists ofall ages and places, with very good restaurants nearby. Regarding thehotel is old and in need of some reform, but the reception staffcompensates for this. Very attentive and polite helped us in all we hadquestions and needs. Morning Breakfast simple but served with care.Always full, but no queues or shortages. The cost / benefit pays a lotin my opinion, for those who want to leave you

Great value typical old Paris hotel. Foyer, room, bathroom and lift were larger and cleaner than most we have stayed in. Staff were excellent and very helpful, especially the Senegalese night porter who went out of his way to help several weary travellers with showers etc prior to checking in. Most staff had good English but did not force it on you so we got along very well with our mediocre French/Franglais which we prefer but English was there if our French failed us.The inclusive- very unusual, usually extra- Continental breakfast was very good with unlimited cereals, coffee, tea, chocolate etc. All round excellent and flexible service for the relatively low price.

The manager provided great service by giving us tips on the places tovisit and to avoid. The hotel was located in a very convenientlocation with a lot of the main attractions within walking distance;Sacre Cour and Moulin Rouge. You can also find the famous ParisHypermarket, Tatti just around the corner. The room cones with abalcony which provided us with a nice view of the neighbourhood. Thebreakfast was a great plus for us as a family before we start our day.Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to be in agreat location without having to burn a hole in their pocket. I amdefinitely coming back. Thank you Altona!
