Quite surprised room spotlessly clean new soap bars put in room every day one per person staff spoke excellent english let us store a very large joint of meat in their fridge spotlessly clean bright restaurent area where continentle breakfast is served better looking than neighbouring hotels would recommend this hotel for people on a budget ideal for a few nights in Calais very neat to ferry and town centre good car parking but watch the back of the car as it hits the ground on the entry and exit we did have a full car though my daughter in law and i got in and out after the car had passed o.

I organised for myself and 5 friends to stay at Hotel Balladins as it was the nearest hotel to attend the Calais "Swamp Blues" festival at le Centre Culturel Gérard Philipe. For our needs, the hotel was perfect. The hotel staff over the weekend were noticeably pleasant and helpful (and spoke good English!). My friends commended me for finding Hotel Balladins Calais.

Booked and paid for 2 rooms, total 4 people. Would not stay in hotel after seeing the state of the rooms, Dirty, dirty, dirty and very smelly. Sheet and a very old blanket, curtains hanging off the rail, scummy bathroom, huge black stains on the carpets and walls. Paid the same price for hotels in munchen and brussels, both hotels were clean and tidy.

The Hotel Balazur was exceptionally good value. The room (with balcony) &hotel generally were spotlessly clean; the beds were very comfortable,the shower/bathroom newly fitted & very good & the breakfast excellentvalue. We chose this hotel as a stop over for ferry crossing and as it promised a family room that slept 5. On the positive side, the hotel was centrally located for restaurants, etc but unfortunately there was a funfair situated right outside the front of the hotel. For Booking. com’s benefit, I would suggest you review the advertisement for this hotel urgently as it may not reflect appropriately on your standards.

When booking this hotel, we were not made aware that there would be a fair ground right outside our hotel !!!!! The room which was allocated to us was in my opinionhaving spent many occasions staying in hotels around the world, this was the worst that I have ever encountered. Although the cost was low, I would not have expected that level of basicness. I will not choose this hotel again if standards are not improved. Thank you.

Hotel ideally situated ,close to both the ferry port and beach , all shops within walking distance ,the hotels two restaraunts situated close by were excellent value. The service in La Mer was both friendly and effecient ( my father is blind but the staff were most attentive to him ). The hotel was quiet Due to time of year (March) but we could find no fault at all with the service from the staff who were great. We have already decided we will return for our pre christmas trip in December.

We stayed in the hotel at the end of a camping trip in France to be nearthe channel tunnel for an early exit the following morning. We werepleasantly surprised as it was the cheapest hotel we stayed in in Francebut by far the cleanest and most comfortable. It had 2 huge comfortablebeds for us & the 2 kids and it was extremely clean and peaceful. It isalso opposite the beach and has a very lively night-life near by forpeople staying in Calais longer.

We stayed at the Cottage Hotel, Calais as it was very convenient for our first night and last night stopover hotel for our self drive holiday down in Germany. We dined both nights in their restaurant. The buffet food was "typically french" buffet nothing too special but sufficient. My chicken was slightly overdone but it didnt matter we.

Although the furnishings and interior of the hotel are dated & the accommodation is extremely modest, the Cottage Hotel was comfortable & clean & the staff friendly & helpful with very good English. Unfortunately the TV was not tuned in properly so was no use. but we weren’t on holiday to watch TV! Would definitely come back - extremely easy to get.

The hotel was very conveniant for Calais, in fact just a 10/15 min walk. Despite being on a main road the hotel was quiet. The hotel restaurant was excellent with a good choice of menus and prices. Staff were very friendly and helpful All in all a good hotel for.

The hotel is really a grand guest house (Maison d’hotes) housed in an 1887 period property located a 20 minutes stroll away from the main tourist area. In fact it’s easy to park anywhere in Calais. However, there are several decent brasseries within a few minutes walk of the accommodation although we ventured a little further for dinner, to Rue Royale where there are many excellent eateries. We stayed in the Venus room which, was not ’small and cosy’ as advised on the booking form but rather spacious with lots of chara.

The hotel is in a good quiet spot just off the main strip in Calias sois handy for bars and restaurants. There is on street parking outsidethe hotel and no road or other nosie to disturb you. The owners of thehotel were very helpful in showing us rooms to pick from and providingdetails of local restaurants. The hotel has a nice lounge, dinig room and garden that isavailable to guests.

We received a very friendly welcome at the hotel. The owner was very helpful, even teaching our children how to play billiards! We stayed in the family suite, two bedrooms with a large bathroom and an additional ensuite / shower room. Excellent accomodation for the same price as one room with a sofa bed in one of the chain hotels. Breakfast was served overlooking the courtyard garden.
