Hotel Recour is a very stylish small to medium boutique hotel with a warm welcome. Impressive wine list. The decor is very much in keeping with the hotel`s 18th centruy Baroque origins. Not a lot happens in the small town of Poperinge - but perhaps that is its attraction.

The best word I can use to describe this place is quirky, but in a nice way. The restaurant was closed on Sundays and Mondays, which was a pity, but again the proprietor was very helpful in booking a lovely bistro for us. Overall, extremely good value. Poperinge is a sleepy village with a fascinating history.

Stayed in the annexe which is excellent in everyway. the hotel itself is a little old fashioned. lots of little starters 4 in all before maine course is served and despite stating i didnt like fish i was still bought out 2 fish dishes :(other than that well reccomended shame about the works in the market square but that is not hotels fault. and i will use again.

Excellent hotel. Very helpful owner. Wonderfully comfortable bed. We went to cycle and Belguim is an amazing place for cyclists. Hotel was very supportive about storing our bikes securely. Good range of cafes and restaurants directly outside the hotel. Beer menus are longer than food menus - which is as it should be! Would definitely stay here again.

This is a really wondereful place to say -- particularly at the price point. The rooms are elegant and the bathrooms are truly to die for. The shower alone with worth the price of the room -- with dual shower heads -- a giant sunflower head and a pulsing jet. Great way to relax after a long day. The hotel is located in the center of the city and while it was in the process of being put back together when we were there (mid June 2011) it is still really a great experience. There is a nice restuarant along with the the hotel and there are plenty of other eateries in the centrum.

We were on our way to Brugges for a couple of days and as we weretravelling on a late eurotunnel crossing we needed somewhere not too farfrom Calais to stay. Howeverr, having looked at all the optionsavailable the Hotel de la Paix, although a little further away, tickedall the boxes. On our arrival we were warmly greeted by Linda who, withher husband, owns and runs this small family hotel (5 bedrooms) and bar. They opened up the residential side of the hotel about 2 years go andour room was absolutely spotless and extremely well appointed with alovely decked roof terrace with table and chairs outside. We then wentdown into the bar to sample the local beers and were well advised onthem! We then had dinner in the lovely conservatory. The food, which wasdelicious, was beautifully cooked by Linda's husband. Everyone was verywelcoming and couldn't be more helpful. We set off for Brugges via Ypresthe following morning after an extremely restful night's sleep and avery good breakfast. Many th

Thoroughly recommended. The hotel is right in the village square and conveniently located to all the restaurants, cafes and bars. The room was fantastic and absolutely perfect for a family. The service of the staff was above and beyond. We had trouble finding a place to park our car, so a staff member accompanied us to make sure we found the car park.
Peter  — 3.2.2012
Hotel Amfora was welcoming, extremely clean and excellently appointed. The staff at all levels and functions were pleasant, helpful andcomfortable to be with. The hotel is located within the hop growing areaof Belgium and boasts an extensive selection of fine beers. The food isoutstanding and the selection of wines comprehensive, however, the rangeof choices for main courses is somewhat constrained; this in no waydetracts from the excellence of the food. The hotel looks out over theMain Square of Poperinge at the hub of the shopping area. I would nothesitate to stay at Hotel Amfora again - I would be delighted!

This is probably the favorite hotel I have ever stayed in. The staffwere absolutely top notch and were pleased to give us all sorts oflittle extras just for asking. The price was incredible for the room westayed in (deluxe room) which had a wonderfully designed bathroom andwas extremely luxurious. Probably would expect to pay twice the pricefor the room in England We found it to be spotless and very nearly weretempted to stay another night. We had read the reviews before we leftabout the state of the stairs but I only noticed the carpet because ofthe reviews and really did not think it was a problem. Room had hugewindows out over the square and hotel ideally situated for drivesthrough the countryside to other places or a walk round Poperinge itselfis very interesting. Absolutely recommended!

hotel palace was good value the meal was excellent...we stayed with friends on the way down to the limousin...our main stay at the palace was to visit the Menin Gate..which we found very impressive...our room at the hotel was brilliant...all meals excellent...staff very pleasant...good stay thank you
John  — 28.1.2012
Really friendly atnosphere. Lovely bar area was being used mainly by locals. Staff gave good service. Basic but comfortable room. Ideally located in Poperinge which is an ideal base for touring Flanders Fields. Maybe 15 mins drive from Leper and 30 mins from Tyne Cot. Poperinge is a quiet town, but has several nice bars / restraunts. I visited out of season so most people out and about were Belgian / Freance, but would imagine it to fairly thriving in the summer months.I would certainly use this Hotel again.

The very friendly hotel manager. The cosy atmosphere in the bar. The bright breakfast room and good quality buffet breakfast. The hotel was opened for us even though they are normally closed every Monday.
